Lets assume Cleveland plays it smart for once and decides that they need to upgrade OL before taking a 1st rd QB and takes Tunsil. San Diego takes Ramsey. Either Goff or Wentz falls in our lap. The phone starts ringing. Who could it be ? What would the offer look like ?

There is no offer that Denver would make that I would accept. Moving down from #4 to #31 would be unacceptable and to add insult to injury, any pick they offered next year would be #25 or later, if not #30 or later. Even if they offered players, the only guy I would even want is Von Miller, who is worth more than the #1 pick this year.

Denver is in a pickle. What if they offered 31#, next years 1st, next years 2#, 63#, 94#, 98#, 136#, 144#

Would they be approaching us in the form of a snake?

Would be very similar to this.

If Denver traded every tradeable pick they have they would still be almost 800 points shy of the 1800 needed. Future picks are said to be worth about half value so you would be looking at about 3 years of all their picks to trade up to 4.

I laugh at the future picks being half the value theory. The father of that idea shouldn't have ever been in an NFL war room.

So a 2017 1st is worth a 2016 2nd, eh? Does that mean a 1st round pick this year is worth a 2nd round pick last year? Oh, wait. no. Because it's rightnow.

Unless I'm in love with a player I'd make those trades to upgrade the pick a round every time and over the long term (team building 101) I'll be the better for it.

That's a bit off I don't buy the half valve bit but even at halve valve the offer comes to 1603.

Really it is a round per year. Meaning Denvers 2017 1st rd pick is worth a 2nd and 2018 1st is worth a 3rd this year. It is even worse than 1/2 value and that is why most coaches will not trade future picks and those that do end up overpaying drastically. That is what Wash did with the RG III trade.

Here is an article about what a rip off it is to trade future picks.

Yeah, you would think these billionaire owners would understand the concept of return on investment.

To drop to pick 31?

I would want every pick Denver has for the next 3 seasons................or Von Miller.

I'll play. It would take there their 1st, 2nd, 3rd for the next 4 drafts and Von Miller agreeing to team friendly deal. In other words, it won't happen.

Not a chance...I laugh at Elway and hang up. Couldn't care less what he offers.

Trading for future picks is always a good idea.IMO It did backfire on us once though. We traded back with Cle earning their next years first which most thought would end up being a top 5 pick. They had a pretty decent year and it ended up being somewhere in the teens. We passed on Stephen Jackson and ended up with Julius jones as well.
