I am not really arguing against gimmicks and gadgets.

I'd love to get a cheap touchdown here and there like that. Those are a lot like a special teams play or a turnover returned for a touchdown. Very demoralizing to the opponent.

We had the benefit of a few of these plays this year (both Crayton punt returns), but we haven't had nearly enough. We are going to need plays like this to win over the next few weeks. I don't know if we will get them though. I can't remember the last INT we had for a TD (Jenkins last year?), let alone a fumble return.

Even though we've had a lot of "big plays" offensively, most of those were not the result of trickery. I am a fan of them because of the Landry Cowboys. You could always count on one or two a game. They didn't always work, but it gave defensive coordinators something else to worry about.

I agree. As for the last int for a TD it was this season Newman pick for 6 vs Carolina

That's right. Compare that to the Saints who I believe have five this season alone. I don't think we've had that many in three years combined.

I agree Dallas needs to make something happen with big plays down the stretch.

I also agree with what was said this morning on NFL network which is Dallas has played good what they have not done is make the big play when it has to be made. When there was 8 min left in the game Dallas is down by 1 score we failed to make the big play defensively to have a real shot at the Chargers instead they eat up the clock and put up 3 points. Dallas has to learn how to make the big plays in clutch time.

The wildcat, as run by Garrett is a direct ripoff of a play Choice ran at Tech his Senior year. Chan Gailey would run it several times a game and IIRC, one game Choice ran it 8 times.

At Tech, the line was zone run blocking and Choice took the direct snap, quickly surveyed the line, picked his hole and ran for 4-10 yards every time.

No variations, no tricks, no wrinkles, just lining up and saying, "Well, were going to hand it to Choice anyway, why not just direct snap it and see if we can catch a defense unprepared."

To me, it is just another example of how unimaginative Garrett is and how scared to death he is of doing anything that would cause blow back from Jerry.

Could you imagine how livid GM Jerry would be if Choice ran left and pitched to Crayton coming behind him to the right and then throwing an interception because RW11 lost the ball in the lights?

I like seeing the wildcat inside the ten yard line.I also like seeing the wildcat between the fourties.I would like to see a few more wrinkles incorporated into the formation though.Maybe they can't execute any other variations in practice is the reason for the simplified wildcat?
