Will a wild card win and 2nd round loss save MM's job again?

That same scenario kept Garrett here for more years than he should have. MM is pretty safe here for the next couple years regardless. Jerry is impressed with regular season wins

I see us entering the playoffs with a little worse record this year perhaps 11 and 6 maybe even 10 and 7 so anything less than 2 wins and McCarthy's out.
With dak I don't even see the 2 wins actually
Goodbye Mike no offense it's just analytics

After last season's debacle the need for a new coach was evident and didn't happen, we are beginning to see the writing on the wall that this season will be wasted again, just wondering if they beat the bucs in the WC game, which they should and then lose in the divisional round, likely does that mean MM will be staying again, which we already know isn't going to work
Seeing what we’ve seen with OBJ, if we lose in the 1st or 2nd playoff game, I think Jerry goes after Sean Peyton to get everyone stirred up about the Cowboys again. Just my feeling.

We are all applying logic to a situation and team owner that does not follow normal logic.

For example- it made zero sense to hire Jason Garrett as HC here in 2010. He had zero HC experience and only had 3 years experience an OC. And even less sense, keeping him for 10 years when his teams only made the playoffs 3 of 10 years.

Jerry Jones thinks and acts like the insecure billionaire he is. He doesn’t hire or keep coaches based on “winning”. He hires and keeps coaches based on who makes him feel comfortable to do and say whatever he wants. Yes he wants to win. But winning playoff games is NOT what drives him.

We are all foolish to think he wants to win a SB bad enough to make the kind of changes that are clearly necessary to win a championship. Jerry doesn’t want to win bad enough. It’s obvious.

I think he would rather lose his way than win someone else’s way. Jimmy’s two super bowls really three live in his head. He got a taste of the ultimate success and because people attribute that success to Jimmy I’m sure it irks the hell out of him. Ultimately it’s his team so it is what it is.

I want to say Big Mike would be gone under that situation. Especially if they lose the wild card game.

However keep in mind, if Big Mike is gone, the Cowboys would have to get a new HC. Will he better better? Or are you better off just keeping McCarthy? Sounds simple and easy to say fire the HC. But it's important to remember who his replacement could be.

12-5 is a good year but not a Championship team.
until a quality defense is put on the field this team will not hoist the lombardi. Now there is a slim chance only because the other NFC teams are also flawed. San fran has the best complete team if they can continue to make it so Purdy dont need to shoulder the load but Philly is flawed on defense in stopping run. Minny is flawed on defense. If those are the 4 teams we are thinking have legit shot at SB then thats my thought process. No team has a QB you can completely trust but our teams biggest issue is on the defensive side of the ball.

and with injuries piling up it doesnt appear to be getting any better

yeah, health is a real key. We are the unhealthiest team with a great record. MAYBE San Fran as well. Eagles are very healthy and barring a big injury at QB, they seem 2 be on a mission. We are hanging on for dear life, hoping we can get healthier.

Mike McCarthy has been a good coach for the Cowboys. Is he flawless? Absolutely not; but who is? If this season ends in anything less than an NFC Championship appearance, McCarthy should be retained, and Jerry should allow him to move on from Kellen Moore. If the season ends with a Super Bowl appearance, then we shore up on both sides of the ball and move forward. McCarthy has led the two to back-to-back winning seasons, and back-to-back playoff seasons. He should be retained.

The HC is not the issue here, we lack talent at QB. Below is the list of the last 10 super bowl winning QBs, all of them can throw the football with consistency. The only outliers were Foles/Wentz (Wentz was pro-bowl-level good that season). Going into year #8 with Dak and we are talking about the HC being a problem.

Stafford - Rams
Brady - Bucs
Mahomes - Chiefs
Brady - Patriots
Foles/Wentz - Eagles
Brady - Patriots
Manning - Broncos
Wilson - Seahawks
Flacco - Ravens
Manning - Giants

Just curious, what exactly has MM done to say he's a good coach? Does this team play undisciplined football, yep, does this team blow leads, yep, does this team make in game adjustments, nope, does he do well in clock management, nope. Do you trust MM to outcoach the opponent in a playoff game, nope..I'm still searching here. I feel this teams record is despite of him not because of him, and as usual this team doesn't have enough talent to overcome terrible coaching, same for Wade Phillips, JG, and now MM

He is gone if we don't get 2 the Championship Game in the NFC.
I will bet you my home and everything else I own that if he wins only ONE game he will be back....Booger no longer wants ANY change....same with Chuckles....the UNKNOWN scare them, and making the playoffs is just good enough for them. As much as I want to punch the Philly coach in the face 1000x, we are desperately in need for something like that....young, energetic, fresh ideas. And please God, not Air Coryell Jr...that dude plays in the street and eats crayons.

I doubt that MM goes anywhere, or that he should. But that shadow of Sean Payton in the background is rather large. Nothing, as is usual with this franchise, will surprise me.
