With the sub-par play we are getting from James and Brooking, will Carter be able to take one of their spots?

I'll say a regular on 2nd and 3rd downs.

The answer here is pretty obvious... not sure it needed a poll, but I don't see him becoming a starter this year. He'll have every shot to win it next year though, in my opinion.

This.

He should get some good PT, but he's missed too much time to come in and steal the starting job before the season is over. I'd love to see it though.

Unless we have multiple injuries there's no way he starts this year.

I don't believe he will start but I expect him in nickle and dime packages as the year progresses. He actually should have an advantage in upper body strength over many rookies as he has gotten plenty of work with Woicik while rehabbing his knee.

The guy hasn't even had a full practice yet and people already want him to be the starter. Typical. He's probably great on Madden.

It's hard enough for a rookie to earn a starting his first year in the league. Add that he hasn't participated in training camp, conditioning program and missed the first quarter of the year to injury and that makes it almost a certainty that he will not start this year. I will be excited to see what he does next year though.

i will be surprised if he is even active to be honest,we cant expect anything from him this season.

No, because Carter's skill set is currently more suited for the WILL position if/when he hits the field. That is the position that Sean Lee is currently dominating. Carter will need an offseason in the weight room to be used in tandem with Lee as they envisioned when they drafted him. Until then, it will be special teams and some occasional work at WILL for the remainder of this season.

On additional thought is that this Defense may have more of a 46 feel to it next year when Lee and Carter are playing the starters minutes.

Sub par? I didn't realize our defense were getting their *** kicked because of them.

I'm excited about the prospect of getting Carter back but given the time missed I think the most he will be able to offer is special teams duty and few packages on defense. Similar to what we saw with Lee who was in pretty much the same situation as Carter

I agree Count. Anything is possible but if Lee could not crack the starting spot his rookie year, no way Carter does, imo. James and Brooking are not really sub par this year either as they are being used. If we can work Carter into a few passing situations, that will help Brooking and Carter be very effective when they are in on the running downs.

I'm looking for Carter to contribute on special teams and slowly work his way into the rotation this year. Anything more is gravy.
