These are the comments from Bob McGinns NFL draft series for the 'Edge Rushers'

2. K’LAVON CHAISSON, LSU (6-3, 254, no 40, 1): One scout remembered Chaisson not doing much in the SEC Championship Game against Georgia but finally solving LT Andrew Thomas at crunch time. “Thomas won the first part of the game but as the game moved on Chaisson won some battles,” one scout said. “He’s the entire package. Explosive pass rusher, plus he can play in space. I’ve seen him pick up backs on wheels (routes) against Mississippi State and Alabama. Can be an excellent pass rusher with enhanced technique. He’s a much better player than Danielle Hunter.” Chaisson finished with 92 tackles (19 for loss) and 9 ½ sacks. “I liked him more than Chase Young,” a second scout said. “This guy knows where the quarterback is. There’s so many guys that just line up and just rush. He has got hand use. He can make that inside move. If he gets pushed inside he’ll go chase the quarterback. Chase Young isn’t that energetic.” Chaisson played off the bench in 2017, was given a redshirt year in 2018 after suffering a torn ACL in the opener, started in ’19 and then renounced his final two years of eligibility. Two scouts insisted there was no way, barring injury, that he could have a better career than Young. “He’s got more glaring deficiencies,” a third scout said. “He’s smaller. He’s got short arms (32 ¼). He has things he’s going to struggle with at times.” He won’t turn 21 until July and his Wonderlic of 27 was the highest among the top 20 at the position. “Not for me,” said a fourth scout. “He’s weak in the upper body. He’s only been a starter for one year. He’s a DPR (designated pass rusher) for us. I think he’s a ‘sam’ backer in a 3-4.” Chaisson is from Houston.

Edit. Adding extra paragraph from article below...

In the poll, scouts were asked to rank the best edge players on a 1-2-3-4-5 basis, with a first-place worth five points, a second-place vote worth four and so on.

A unanimous selection, Young totaled 85 points. Four other players finished in double digits, including K’Lavon Chaisson (59), A.J. Epenesa (34), Yetur Gross-Matos (31) and Julian Okwara (16 ½).

Rounding out the vote were Anae (six), Josh Uche (six), Darrell Taylor (3 ½), Jason Strowbridge (three), Jabari Zuniga (three), Alex Highsmith (two), Alton Robinson (two) and Jonathan Greenard, Terrell Lewis, Delontae Scott and Weaver, each one.

“Chase Young, and you’ve got to take a chance on Chaisson,” an NFC executive said. “Besides that, if you’re looking for somebody to come in, there’s nothing.”

I hope he is there but I’m not sure he will be. Depends who trades up for wr or cb.

I'm the only guy on the planet who isn't buying atlanta taking this guy...I'll says odds are in favor of him being there at 17
I am not worried about Atlanta but there is a 3/4 team like the Ravens that have the draft capital to make a trade up steal him. He is considered the second best pass rusher in the draft. Like Henderson he will be the top player left after Young and Okuda go. I am nervous because you don’t hear any team but the Cowboys that want him. Kind of reminds me of the LVE so you never know.

i do.
i think he's our pick.
atlanta i believe is targeting a cb...henderson or terrell.
i would not be shocked if denver...if the big 3 at wr are off the board...take michigan c cesar ruiz.
i think k'lavon chaisson will be there...waiting...asking....what the hell took y'all so long.
:thumbup::flagwave:

and if dt javon kinlaw does slide...he won't make it past atlanta.

I like him, just not at 17. If the Ravens offer a good deal id much rather get more picks.

Im with you. Falcons are moving up for Henderson

I don’t understand the not at 17 rational. It’s not like we have a top 5 pick. He is a lottery ticket who scouts think is better then Hunter at the same stage. I don’t see anybody at 17 that is close to his potential.

theres 2 of us.

even dane bruglar tweeted out something along the lines of "if terrell makes it to 17".
i also could see atlanta...missing out on henderson...stopping the slide of kinlaw if he's there.
i tnink chaisson is our pick.

Because it’s an upside pick. I’m not taking a risk/reward player in the top 20.

Hunter was a risk/reward pick as well and wasn’t taken anywhere near 17.

Hunter is one of the best defensive players in the league. You would not want him? Upside pick? All players drafted in the NFL are upside picks. To be honest I would draft Love because he has the tools to be franchise quarterback. It Eason is there in the second I would draft him as well.

Chaisson is only 20 years old, still growing into his body. I’m taking this kid if he’s there. High character kid, smart and has rocket packs in his shoes and a motor that runs HOT all day long. It’s all in front of him, just like Tyron Smith taken at 20 yrs old. Please be there...

Yes, I would want him now knowing he has multiple 10+ sack seasons under his belt. He fell in his draft due to a lack of production in college.

Yes, all players are upside picks. But in the 1st round, I’m looking for NFL size/athleticism, production and quality tape ideally against good competition. A player checking these boxes will have a higher floor and be likely less likely to bust.

it depends a lot on the Falcons,,they will draft him if they stay at 16 but if they move up its likely for a CB.

The key is Jordan Love...if Love is still on the board after pick 12....I'm not liking our chances. I still think the Jets swoop in w/ pick 1/11. They have tried for 2 years to get a pass rusher...and have whiffed in free agency. I think it's finally sunk in...they are gonna have to draft one high.

If we want him....I think it's gonna cost us a pick to jump Atlanta.

Jets have bigger fish to fry on the Offensive side.

I hope he is gone b4 Dallas picks. I do not want us going down this road
