Will Cowboys be more active when bigger names start looking for one year deals

I agree. What gets lost is they also spent 53 million option on Bryce Huff and he was terrible. But you’re afforded that when you hit on Baun and Becton. You just never know how a guy responds to being let go or released to a new organization. In regards to Elam his dad played here. Just never know.
I get what they are doing. They are basically taking flyers on players that have the pedigree and traits hoping they can blossom in a new environment. If they don’t work it’s no big deal. Having said that I don’t know why they don’t try to get Becton and put him at LG? He’s right there for the taking

It’s funny I was thinking the same thing. They are trying to recreate what Philly did. Minus the solid draft and grabbing the unicorn that is Barkley in FA.

This team loves to try and recreate what other teams do.

Go back to when they drafted Escobar(no offense here at all). That was to mimic the Pats with Hernandez and Gronk.

They don’t know what they are doing. So they try and copy. Then tell us they know exactly what they are doing.
Ever hear the phrase It's a copy-cat league?

With the amount of space they have, the Cowboys almost cant be done. They went into FA with close to 60 million in space and from what I can tell the only thing that really dents that is Murrays contract.

Could they get more active when starting caliber players start looking for 1 year deals?
Well first of all they've been way more active this offseason, it may not be to your liking, than they were at this time last year..

But yes they will make a few surprise moves like they did with Cooks and Gilmore, at some point maybe post draft.. There's going to be some good names released that haven't even been released yet or traded around draft time..

You can’t roll over that much cap space. So they have to spend it somehow. Even if you use it to sign Micah that move saves you even more money. So something has to happen.
But correct me...cap space really doesn't matter in that regard. It is only actual cash spent that they have to meet a certain level at I believe. Cap space is just an accounting term.

Bigger names? LOL. You're funny...everything now is way past the top 100 free agents.
That doesn't mean some won't be open for trades around the draft or more become cut, and I don't care about rankings of top one hundreds those are opinions... I bet Bryce huff for the eagles they thought he was a great pick up. Beware of names with high ranking and big paydays.

Some of you are so delusional and forgetful,

but lots of teams have to build out their team the same way the Cowboys are doing right now, like these names are signing it's necessary you have to build your roster ,some of it might be camp bodies but there's going to be some surprises, you never know Sanborn looks like a good pick up and so does Solomon Thomas and so does the backup guard they got from Miami these players will contribute I can see it already and I also like Murray you don't need bigger names to build out your roster right now they're gonna probably wait to see what they hit on in the draft and then see what's out there available for a trade or has been cut. Five months before the season you act like something can't happen but did you remember they made a trade for amari Cooper in 2018 you have all the way up to the trade deadline to fix something that didn't work will they do it I don't know there's no guarantee but don't act like they haven't done it....

And by the way these big names did you think Brandon Aubrey Turpin and Butler were big names they were brought over from the ufl there was also last minute editions of Peters Gilmore and Brandon cooks at one point... With five months left there's plenty of moves to be made...

Can you honestly say anyone they have signed from another team or traded for is an upgrade over who they had last year? Does any of them make this a better team? In all likelihood the answer is no. So if we are going to have any hope of a better year, it is going to have to be because we stay injury free, the players we have are going to play better, or the draft picks are going to have to immediately contribute at a high level. Is there any of the guys we got that could surprise in the fashion that Baun did? I don't see it. Maybe Solomon Thomas. Maybe Murray. Elam seems like a poor fit, his profile suggests he struggles with zone...well Eberflus runs mostly zone. He seems like a much better fit for a Dan Quinn defense. Javonte Williams had a very poor year, but at his best he probably would be similar to Dowdle.

There are lots of moves to be made for sure still. But chances of them getting a difference maker at this point is very slight.

What are you basing your opinion of Jones on? He was one of the lowest ranking guards in the league and only played due to injuries. Sanborn is an extremely limited athlete that tries hard...but he pretty much is a one or two down player. Murray isn't even average in coverage either. SO we have two LBs that can't play on passing downs, except Murray can maybe rush the passer.

What are you basing your opinion of Ford on? He was one of the lowest ranking guards in the league and only played due to injuries. Sanborn is an extremely limited athlete that tries hard...but he pretty much is a one or two down player. Murray isn't even average in coverage either. First of all I'm not reading all that , not neccessary,

but you realize we're three days into a 5 month process to build this team we're not even at the draft yet!

so I'm not saying anything, I'm saying be patient, you're judging what they've done the last three days which is about five times the amount of what they did last year,

last year was sad, you don't like these moves you remember Kendricks was the absolute only move they made in outside free agents before the draft last year, this is way better..SO far,

BTW I like Solomon Thomas and yes we got better on the defensive line because of him, and I think Sanborn at least is as good or could be better than Kendricks and I think having a backup guard from Miami is probably better depth than we had last year so yes some of these moves have helped..and Turner I have no idea how to judge him but he could be the next Dante Fowler revive his career here we don't know he could be Robert Quinn somebody on this new coaching staff wanted these guys and they're getting him Jerry's not making these players up...

But the difference here is last year they waited too long to move around money and free cap space, they have that now, and they're going to get more when they do Parsons..
so at least they're ahead of last year's pace, and that's a good thing, and if a move becomes available they can do it right away they've made the necessary moves now that if something comes up for a trade or a guy gets released and you targeting that guy they can do it right away that's the difference between this year and last year..
but you're judging this when there's five months left before the season starts, many moves can be made, will they make? them I don't know ,but you're acting like this is it and this is all they're going to do ,
no they're working this part of the roster now ,and I'm sure there's more moves are going to happen...

You don't read mine because it's too long. Then you write an even longer reply. Irony at it's finest.

If you think that they are doing anything outstanding I will just have to disagree. The DE is better than a healthy Lawrence? Kendricks had an outstanding year last year....best bang for the buck on defense. I seriously doubt Sanborn can be that good.

Know what I said is there is no reason to read it not because it was too long it's because I know what you were going to say but yeah I'm a hypocrite LOL

I used to talk to text and my stuff is really long...

The problem is Lawrence made too much money. didn't even play last year, and he gets injured a lot and he complaints he's tired.

But again, there's five months left to add another defensive end whether it's an outside linebacker from the draft or another guy that you don't see coming... Look if we go into the season like this you can complain all you want but until then we have 5 months to build the roster you're judging this off the first 3 days which I'm just saying is a lot better than last year the pre draft stuff last year was so bad it was historically bad right now we're on a decent pace and I'm gonna wait and see how it works out...

Exactly what they are trying to do and I’ve gotta be honest and say I don’t hate it.

Feels a bit strange and unusual actually.

Throw Mingo in, how many recent top 40 picks on the fast track to bustville have been acquired lately? 4-5?

They hit in one it’s a home run. Two is a grand slam.

BUT….they still need to improve in the draft, especially Friday.

Probably not on Becton after signing Jones.

Bass and Hoffman aren’t terrible. Not sure I’d spend any of the apparently very limited money at G unless Tyler is going to LT.

They are at least TRYING. I’m happy with that alone.

It tells me that they are actually in the building working and that they are listening to people other than themselves.

I’m so sucked that all I need is an ounce of some sort of weak hope and it grows like a weed. Gonna go do a shot of round up and try to fix myself.
