No wonder Jerry Jones doesn't want to talk about extending cornerback Mike Jenkins just yet. The potential cost of his second contract could be prohibitive.

In the last year, the Cowboys have locked up cornerbacks Brandon Carr and Orlando Scandrick for the next five seasons, agreeing to deals for more than $75 million, including roughly $35 million guaranteed.

With that going rate I think the Cowboys may go CB with the first pick. Jenkins is still recovering from his surgery and who knows how long rehabilitation will take. CB may be a position of need instead of being able to take the BPA. With Jenkins shoulder and what he'll be asking for, I think the Boys have address CB first. What do ya'll think?

Jenkins is a restricted FA next yr so you can tender him.
The year after you can Franchise him.

So you can have Jenkins for next two yrs. I don't see a hurry to lock him up unless price is right.

You can ALWAYS use another quality CB especially given how pass happy this league is. But you can ALWAYS have another great PASSRUSHER too.

I'm gettin' aboard the Stephon Gilmore train and hoping we get him wherever it makes the most sense ... @ #14 seems a little high. Maybe pick another BPA at 14 and then trade back up to grab him, as needed.

Haven't always been much of a fan of trading away picks to climb up the draft day board, but I'd love to see our 1st and 2nd picks be ROCK SOLID, and I think Gilmore would be a great Cowboys CB for years to come.

Eh, but what do I know? My 2¢ for sake of discussion.

No...Jenkins will be a UFA.

I'm ok with a CB at 14 if it means Jenkins walks after this year. The guy can't stay healthy and you need 3 good CBs on the field at all times. But I think you can find a day one starting #2 or #3 CB in the 2nd or last 1st and not at 14. If we go Cb in round 1 then I would rather trade back.

Maybe Gilmore around #32, although he played primarily zone coverage in college. Physically, it appears that he could play man-coverage.

I'd prefer to wait and draft Josh Robinson or Trumaine Johnson in the 2nd/3rd or Josh Norman in the 3rd/4th.

If Jenkins really can't start the season, they will probably pick up a low level FA like Frank Walker. I don't think Rob Ryan likes to give rookies significant playing time.

Jenkins has done nothing to convince me he deserves a "prohibitive" contract. Remember 2010? I do.
