He called to express interest but I havent heard anything beyond that. I think the decisions down to a few and he's not one. I think he would have been a nice fit

I think he was a good coach. I think his health issues make him a risk most teams don't want to deal with. I was in Atlanta when he went through the quadruple bypass, and he never seemed the same after.

I agree with DC to some extent...if the goal was to get Garrett ready to be the HC in a yr or two or three, Reeves seems like the perfect choice because whether he wins or loses, he wasnt going to be here for the long term

if Norv or Wade comes in and we win 11-12 games, it would be hard for Jerry to sell a coaching change "just because I want to"

Reeves is an excellent head coach...develops good game plans, wins everywhere he goes and has a link to the glory days of Landry..I'm surprised he got no interest from us

I agree with you DC. I too like Dan Reeves and think he would be an interesting fit but Jerry has never really embraced the Tex Schramm/Tom Landry era and I doubt that his Cowboy ties would hold much water where Jerry is concerned. It's a shame really but it is what it is.

I've always wondered if Jerry might have held a bit of a grudge against many of that era because of how he was made out to be after the whole Tom Landry/Tex Schramm thing. I wouldn't be surprised but who really knows for sure?

Could be... although of course as we know it wasnt like Dan was part of Landrys staff at the time or anything.

He'd already been in Denver for like 8 years.

I'm not even suggesting it should have anything to do with the fact that he once played/coached here. It *could* be part of a justification to hire him.. but that would be totally secondary to the belief that he could simply take the team forward.

But so could a rookie HC live Rivera or whatever because theres no shortage of teams who garner more wins than they had the previous year these days when they go with a coach like that.

I'm just trying to avoid going with Norv or Wade because I think thats worst case scenario. I think compared to the other scenarios it owes to the best chance we just spin our wheels.

Yeah, I don't think he likes people from the old era around Valley Ranch. Is anyone there from that era other than Calvin Hill and is he still with the Cowboys?

Does anyone know Jones turned him down, or is this all speculation (presented as facts). Was there a report about it? Just because he hasn't been interviewed yet doesn't mean he's not under consideration.

I dont believe I actually saw that in any Mickey recaps though (not to say it's not there).

But the part about Reeves calling in the first place has had an article written.
