Will Dez get 1,000 recieving yards? He currently has 703 recieving yards. He needs 297 more. He would need to average 74.2 yards in the last 4 games to get to it. I think he does it especially with Miles coming back which means Dez will see more man to man rather than double coverage. We aren't facing the strongest of secondaries these last 4 games. For all the talk about Dez being a disappointment I think getting to 1,000 yards in his 2nd year is pretty damn impressive.

Dez' season has been solid. I think one of the things that changes the perception of him is that he hasn't had the big 150+, 3td games. He hasn't really been a game-breaker this year.

I know he's had his issues int he second half, but since he hasn't really had a monster game, I think people don't realize how well he's been playing.

I am not convinced he will because even though the secondaries aren't good, the Eagles and Giants DL will be feasting on Romo. So I don't see Romo having much time to deliver the ball against a 4-man line which should nullify Dez.

We are going to be running the offense through the RBs, Austin and Witten in that order now that Miles is back.

I think Dez is a disappointment not due to lack of production. He is a disappointment due to lack of progression of his skills as a WR. At least he seems to have calmed down on the field and has gone a few games without getting injured so that is a definite plus.

What are you talking about man? I mean do you seriously even watch the games? Dez has clearly improved as a route runner as the season has gone on. He's come up huge in the clutch in each of the last 3 games. Again he's not a great route runner, but he doesn't need to be when you've got his athleticism. Was Randy Moss a great route runner? No he was average at best, but it didn't matter because had an incredible athleticism and went on to be an all time great wideout.

Hard for him to have those monster games when his quarterback doesn't have time to get him the ball down the field due to awful offensive line play.

Dez is not in the same time zone as Moss.

Moss put up 1500 yards as a rookie. Dez is still in the 700s 3/4 of the way through his sophomore season. Dez couldn't consistently beat a rookie CB in 1-on-1 coverage that the rest of the league has been toasting. Peterson could never have made that play on a properly thrown deep ball against Moss.

I know this whole board is in love with Dez but he is flawed. Even if he can now occasionally run more than one of his 3 routes he cannot run consistently and cannot run them well enough to get open. His best attribute continues to be his hands but he dropped an alarming number of passes under tight coverage for a guy who regularly fails to get separation.

I like his enthusiasm. I like how he can feast on bad CBs. I don't like his limited repertoire this deep into his second season even though he has already worked with two of the better WR coaches in the game.

I do really hope he breaks out because we need another dynamic threat out there to accompany Austin. While Austin has been out and Murray has been canned up this offense has been pretty unproductive going on 3 weeks now.

It's interesting that you bring that up.

Miles Austin leads the league in monster games from a WR since the start of 2009. This despite the fact he didn't start the first 4 games in 2009, played 10 games last year without Romo and has missed half the games this year.

This offense is definitely conducive to an elite WR putting up monster games. That is not a legitimate excuse for Dez's lack of production.

I'm a big Dez supporter, but I do not see the improvement in his route running at all. His production has been good and he has indeed been very clutch. He can make something happen when he improvises as we've seen (Both Commanders games, Arizona catch, Miami punt return, Arizona punt return that got called back), but he will not break into the upper echelon of receivers until he decides to sit down and master his routes.

I would be okay with Dez being a 700 yard threat if it meant he converted his plays and made the most of his opportunity.

This post quieted things down. :laugh2:
