I know we have discussed this before but It was brought up to me today that it was mentioned somewhere that Gruden didn't take the Miami job because he wanted to see what was going to happen in Dallas.

Also I was told that Cowher had in interest
.

The people that told me this are good freinds with an NFL player ,not that that means anything ,but I do wonder if J.J. would pull the plug on Garret to get a BIG name coach just to put fans back in the seats.

Don't hammer me now, I was just wondering from what I was told.

Myself, I love what Garret is doing now ,but on the other hand, would new coach come in and make drastic changes that are needed and cut some of the present players being he has no history with any of them.

I mean, Garret has been there a long time and I'm sure made some good relationships.

Don't know if he would cut some of the dead wood if they were freinds.

Again, just wondering.

Last 3 games mean something. I think we'll beat the Cards and Skins and lose to Philly. That's 5-3 and probably enough for him to win the job.

Outside of his ties with Tony Romo, Jason Garrett does not strike me as the sort who values coach/player relationships over what changes could potentially upgrade the team. That is more of a Wade Phillips-like attribute. While he may or may not be many things, I am more than willing to say that Jason Garrett has proven thus far that he is no Wade Phillips.

The only way he's not is if we lose both of the last games of the season.

I think he could lose 2 out of 3 and still be considered a favorite for the job. Maybe even all 3 depending how they play.

Jerry himself said a the press conference evaluating the rest of the year wasn't about wins and losses, it was getting the team to play hard, cut down on stupid mistakes, prepare better and deal with adversity. Garrett has accomplished to some extent all of those things, so I think he has a lot of leeway on the W/L record, especially saddled with this horrible defense Wade left him.

You could tell even in the loss last night Jerry was happy how the team fought back. I think that was what he was looking for when he made the switch.

The other thing working in Garrett's favor is the labor situation. Jerry might not want to shell out $7-8M next year for a Gruden or Cowher to sit around being locked out. Jason will be much cheaper at $3M or so.

What worries me, if Garrett gets the job, will Jerry let him make coaching changes

Yes. Garrett will be back next year.

JJ knows he's got a potentially long-term, young HC for a long time - and also for significantly less than what it would cost to bring in a Cower to Dallas as well.

Jerry has no incentive to cut bait with Garrett now.

I can't see Jerry picking anyone else unless the Cowboys somehow completely crater (again, as they did against the Packers) during their last couple of games.

That's a reasonable outcome. I think if we lose to the Skins or Cards, it starts to raise questions in Jerry's head b/c we clearly have more talent ... of course, as others have pointed out -- two of our best offensive guys are out

Almost certainly. One can surely argue that JG has earned an extended run based on the team's play under his care.

But that doesn't matter. What does matter? Jerry's ego.

I think JG is here, because if he ISN'T here, then that makes Wade AND JG two huge coaching misses. I think Jerry sees a potential JG success as redemptive of his decisions as GM. And to a point he'd be right - Jerry found him, kept him, and then gave him his shot despite JG being part and parcel to the collapse this year. In Jerry's mind, he's already pushed JG into the chip pile in the table, might as well see the hand through...

By hook or by crook, I guess. As long as Garrett is here and given the opportunity to be successful, Jerry can think he's the king of Jupiter for all I care.

two things.

Number 1. The seats are all full.

Number 2, being from central ny is the nfl player your referring to scumbag will smith? if so, I would deem that information about as useful as whats in my garbage can.

3-2 without romo and now dez

a roy williams fumble away from being 4-1

he deserves the job...imo

Bingo! Bang! Bongo!
100% agree.

I think its sill to think that he is trial or probation. It doesnt matter what happens in any of these games. It's not fair by any stretch. He will get his shot -long term.

I expect a deal no less than 5 years. Could be 7-10

He is our new coach for many years to come.
