Will Jaylon Smith catch his salary in 2021?

Seems as if the young man makes a lot of tackles 4-7 yards off the ball. Is he only a catch LB, or is he out of place in the defense.

Where do you put him? Was there lack of effort because of the situation of the season? Is the drop foot completely gone? I trust on you guys because you watch film and replay the heck out of the season. We need the real truth.

much thanks!

Perhaps Dan Quinn can find the place that works best for Jaylon. We can only hope.

Extremely limited and can easily be schemed out of a game.

Much too soft to be playing in the middle. For me personally, I dont even want the guy on the team. Cant have soft leaders like that.

Yah, he basically sits 5 yards off the ball and waits for the play to come to him. He sucks.

Maybe a team could hide him with a great Dline and put him on the outside? He should be cut to be honest.

He is the Zeke Elliott of the defense.

Teammates love him and want to play for him, calls the plays, great emotion, makes a lot of tackles, and some fans buy tickets to see him play. That is all I got on the positive side.

Plays soft, stinks at blitzing, few tackles for loss, penchant for knucklehead plays, makes business decisions when tackling, few splash plays, and often freelances or doesn’t even know own responsibility even though he calls the plays.

A Jerry favorite so look for restructure and extension.

So the only player you slobber over is Dak, right?

If I'm the Cowboys, I ask him to take a serious pay cut or he's a post June 1st cut....

I never thought the middle was the spot for him myself
Seems to me he better suited on the edge and blitzing more off the edge

Coaches didn’t utilize him in a scheme that fits his strengths. We’ll see what happens this year.

Hes just not physical enough. Pretty boy that cares more about the way he looks then getting dirty.

I would cut him, but definitely not put him in the middle.

Tyrone Crawford sure didn't but he played out his deal

I think Smith can rebound with coaching, talent in front of him and he needs to be hungry every snap

What strengths do claim he has, pertaining to football.
It's not speed, lateral movement, coverage, run stopping, etc.
Maybe I missed something.

Remember when he all got up in that other dude's face when he got challenged?
It was amazing!

He gets to the ball quickly, is a good pass rusher and showed improvement in pass protection. Plus he’sa good tackler.

I think you hit the nail square on the head.

I did forget the he can’t cover TEs or RBs in space. And when you see a stupid penalty, good chance you hear #54 and his name.

One person made the comment that in coverage he looks like a hostage running out of a building. That is pretty accurate.
