A friend told me he was going to the Dolphins.
Anyone here this rumor, as I have not.

We need to keep this guy here in Dallas.

Rapoport also tosses out (via Twitter) some names to look for when the Jets do begin their GM search. George Paton (Vikings), Ryan Pace (Saints), Trent Kirchner (Seahawks), Will McClay (Cowboys) are all candidates to be interviewed by New York, although Brian Costello notes (Twitter link) that the Jets were interested in Paton during their last GM hiring, but Paton turned them down.

  • Adam Schefter writes Cowboys that director of player personnel Will McClay has been one of the real unheralded heroes for Dallas this season.
  • Schefter mentions that although McClay is not well known outside the Cowboys’ organization, he’s someone who’s bound to get more attention for general manager vacancies.

Jets | Possible GM candidates in mind

Mon, 29 Dec 2014 01:45:09 -0800

Should the New York Jets fire general manager John Idzik on Monday, Dec. 29, the team could look at George Paton (Vikings), Ryan Pace (Saints), Trent Kirchner (Seahawks) or Will McClay (Cowboys) as possible replacements.

Will McClay is my biggest fear of losing right now. The guy has a true talent and finding talent and created a very impressive draft board this past draft. To me, McClay ended a lot of the bad draft classes that Tom Ciskowski reeled off. Horrific draft classes of 2009 and 2012, highlight Ciskowski’s drafting ineptitude, so Jerry elevated McClay to the Draft Czar. There’s aleardy rumors that McClay will get a look at for the Jets. Jerry will likely counter with a nice raise, I would hope so. McClay’s next task will be to upgrade the defensive line, so let’s hope he’ll be here to do that for us.

The New York Jets ended their 15-day search for a general manager on Tuesday, hiring Houston Texans director of college scouting Mike Maccagnan -- a protégé of Jets consultant Charley Casserly.

Maccagnan, 47, will be the Jets' third GM in the last four years, replacing John Idzik, who was fired after only two seasons.

Can't remember if it was Fish or not but remember it being said the McCkay was likely back for at least one more year. Fish seems pretty tuned in. I know he did a report on how Rod really liked being in DFW and could see him staying regardless of his loyalty towards Lovie. Went as far as saying that he may have stayed on with the Bears. He apparently helped with interviewing the next head coach. He recommended Arians as the top candidate but the Bears chose Trestman which was Rod's least recommended candidate. This is when Rod left and came to Dallas to help Kiffin

Thats true. Rod felt disrespected that they picked someone that he least wanted. Thus started the exodus to Dallas since Kiffin was here and we needed a Dline coach.

Absolutely true. I listen to some sports radio stations in Chicago now and again and they've discussed this before. Rod did sit in, recommended Arians and their dorky GM that just got fired completely blew off the advice and hired Trestman. Rod left and Trestman ran the team into an iceberg.

Can you imagine going from a potential Bruce Arians and Marinelli on a staff to ex-coach Marc Trestman and some bellybutton lint instead? Man, one guy's bad decisions can really screw up your franchise if you let it.
