Have we seen the best out of Miles Austin or will he come back next season with a vengeance? I for one hope for the latter. He's a big guy with big play ability. But lately Austin has had the dropsies and injuries have plagued his career.

For Romo's sake, we need #19 to show up in a big way.

We'll have to wait and see. He had a phenomenal 2009 season and before Romo went down in 2010 he was having a historically good season then Romo got hurt and Miles' numbers went down significantly. This season he was just bit by the injury bug. IMO when healthy he's a top 10 wideout.

He started 2011 really well, especially that big game against SF. But you're right, injuries really limited him. He had a few drops, but he wasn't ranked on PFF as having a high drop percentage (RW was btw). But yeah, I remember at least a couple toward the end of the season.

If he stays healthy, and we get a better OL, I think you'll see him continue to put up big numbers. I wouldn't lose much sleep over it...yet.

This is what I'm hoping for and what I really believe.

Even this year before all his injuries came up, he was one of the leading WRs - granted that was like 2 weeks...but he had something like 4 TDs and 200+ yards. His SF game was legendary.

Last year before Romo went down, as you said he was killing it.

His drops suck for sure, but I can't believe the amount ppl rag on him...he was never the most sure handed guy, but I've realized this year, all WRs suffer drops...look at Nicks, and Dez....those two guys are reported to have some of the best hands in the league and they dropped their fair share.

I hope he can bounce back . I am concerned that he won't . I am starting to take Parcell's attitude toward these injury prone players though . If they can't stay healthy , we don't need them .

Wait a minute.

Dez Bryant was rated number 2 in drop percentage according to PFF (2011). According to PFF, Bryant dropped 1 pass in 2011 and caught 63/64 "catchable" passes. That is a 98.4% catch rate for Bryant on "catchable" passes. PFF has Bryant dropping 4 balls in two years. On the other hand...

In 2010, PFF has Austin with 11 dropped passes in one season. That put Austin in the bottom 15 in drop percentage in the NFL according to PFF.

Dez Bryant has some of the very best hands in the NFL.

You can talk about Nick's drops, because he had 7 this year, though.

However, lumping Austin's hands with Bryant's elite mitts is not even close to being accurate.

EDIT -- I had the wrong quote. It was:

"She's feeling better, she's feeling a lot better"

"Still you might say that Tate is at somewhat of an advantage since his sample size is a fair bit smaller than many of the top guys in the league. A valid point, and by moving the catchable balls minimum to 50 you then start to focus on a player who maybe doesn’t get the positive press he deserves; Dez Bryant. The Cowboys receiver has had his issues off the field, but our 10th ranked receiver on the year has dropped just the one ball all year while falling just short of a 1,000 yard season. The sky really is the limit with Bryant who has now dropped only four balls since entering the league. There are guys who have dropped more in one game".

Miles will be back, when the ham string problem i knew it was going to be a rough year for him, he's dealt with the injury in the past (college) and said he needed a solid two months (I think) to heal fully/
Correctly. If miles is healthy, I think we see miles of the 49ers game.

Find the guy who fixed Isaac Bruce.
He had the same problems early on,and after altering some conditioning patterns,he was durable and long lasting.

So much dissapointment in 2011 and Miles and Dez was part of it. Not that I'm blaming them, but I just expected so much more.

These guys can be and perhaps need to be a great duo. Here's hoping for great things from the two of them in 2012.

wk 1 (Jets): 5 rec, 90 yds, 1 TD.
wk 2 (Niners): 9 rec, 143 yds, 3 TD.

And Miles Austin didn't finish the game in San Francisco.

Smiles only played in 8 of the final 14 games and never surpassed 90 yards in any of them.

The only question I have with Austin is can he stay healthy?

Austin was right at 100 yards a game in 2010 before Tony Romo went down in week 7 against the New York Giants.

He averaged over 100 yards a game after becoming a starter in 2009.

And I don't think Austin is remotely close to being a finished product yet.

Smiles can still get better, IMO.

All to often guys on this team get big money deals and then disapear.

Come on, it's not like he completely fell off. He was hurt and ended up filling in as the #3 WR after all.

We just have to live with the drops...he is still one of Romo's trusted targets. With all the WRs we have, he probably won't top his 2009 production again but he can still be a 1000 yard and/or 10+ TD guy.

Yeah, I think he has a good chance to get back at least close to his '09/'10 if he can get healthy.

If he is healthy he's top 5 in the league. Him being healthy has been rare though.

Last season was really the only time he suffered injuries since he's been a featured receiver.

Hell be fine. Full training camp and tony has protection for more than a half of second were good to go

I think Miles is going to be fine. No doubt the hamstring problem was a season long problem, Andrea Johnson in Houston had to deal with the same thing.
