Will Nick Bosa have an influence on Micah's next contract?

It is no secret that Nick Bosa is out to reset the market for elite defensive players. The 49ers have offered a contract that averages out to $30 million/year, $1.5 million less than Aaron Donald. Reports are leaked that Bosa's camp is asking for $35 million. Assuming that the 49ers settle on a number of, say, $32 million, how do you think Jerry handles Micah's next contract? Is Bosa really the best defensive player in the game (when he's not lined up against Lane Johnson, who kicked his *** every time they played against each other)?

35m a season is a starting point for Micah.

The NFL is going to out-price the fan base sooner or later and that will be it's downfall. You already have to subscribe to several networks just to see the games anymore. I miss the days when the players weren't such primadonnas.

Bosa just won DPOY, which is something Parsons doesn’t have on his resume, at least not yet. Parsons isn’t the sackmaster Bosa is. It’s going to be hard for Parsons to make an argument he should be paid more than Bosa if he doesn’t win DPOY this season and have a ton of sacks. Plus Bosa has 8 playoff sacks compared to only one for Parsons. Parsons has yet to show up big in the playoffs. He’s pretty much worn down by the time the playoffs arrive.

2.5 years time the Bosa/Parsons contract won't be on the top end...all part of the cycle of craziness

Whomever is the highest paid pass rusher at the time when Micah is offered a contract will directly influence how much Micah is paid.

And Micah will be paid more.

How could he not? Micah wants DE money cause it pays more and that's what is getting him paid in the 1st place.

SF would trade Bosa for Parsons straight up in a heartbeat. Parsons will sign for more than Bosa is being paid when the time comes.

You couldn’t be more wrong on that one. Lol Parsons is great, but he hasn’t proven to be better than Bosa. Parsons could very well get more money than Bosa because every player wants to reset the market.

Bosa is great, but traditional. Parsons is the vanguard of what great defenders are going to have to be in the contemporary and future NFL. There is an earlier response about Lane Johnson being able handle Bosa. I would guess Bosa represents quite a challenge for him. But I’d bet if you asked Lane Johnson who he’d rather have to deal with, Bosa or Parsons, he’d say Bosa. Parsons is like a UFO. I see something, but I’m not really sure what it is.

To say San Francisco would trade Bosa straight up for Parsons in a heartbeat is being ridiculous. That’s simply not true! Bosa is a big part of the reason San Francisco has such a great defense. The last two seasons, he’s had 7.5 sacks more than Parsons and 24 more QB hits. Bosa has been outstanding in the playoffs. He had four sacks in the playoffs his rookie season, while Parsons has pretty much disappeared in the playoffs. Parsons hasn’t been the same player the second half of the season like he has been the first half of the season. The Cowboys have been moving around a lot and he’s having to take on a lot of double teams. It’s caused him to wear down as the season goes on. This is why he starting to bulk up. Had San Francisco not traded the farm for Trey Lance they could have drafted Parsons. Just imagine how great their defense would be if they had Bosa and Parsons.

Possibly but let’s be honest Parsons is no where statistically as good as Bosa,Watts, and Donald but after this season it all could change.

Nick Bosa is an absolute dawg and knows he can ask for that much because he’s worth it. That team is not winning anything substantial without him

Of course it makes a difference in what we pay Micah. All these guys look at other guys contract. Bosa is the best in the league right now.

However much SF needs him, they haven’t signed him. And like Hurts in Philly, the 49ers haven’t won anything with him.

They haven’t signed him yet because he’s asking for more than $31 million per season and likely wants most if not all of his contract entirely guaranteed. Bosa has emerged as the most dangerous pass-rusher in football, with 34 sacks, 40 tackles for loss and 80 QB hits the past two seasons. He’s looking for QB money. San Francisco’s defense was ranked 13th the year before Bosa arrived. During Bosa’s rookie season in 2019 San Francisco’s defense shot to number two overall. Their defense has been top-five ever since and was number one overall last season. Bosa is the main reason their defense has gotten so good. He’s a force upfront who overpowers people.

He helped San Francisco reach the Super Bowl during his second season. They’ve reached the conference title game the past two seasons. They’ve been to three conference title games since Bosa arrived. The only thing San Francisco lacks is an elite QB, which is why they made the trade for Trey Lance, thinking he would be the guy. They’ve been getting good QB play, but not elite QB play which is ultimately what you need to win a championship these days. Championships usually come down to the play of your QB. This is why KC has become dominant.

Just to clarify my thinking, you’re suggesting the 49ers’ Super Bowl hopes rest on the play of their quarterback more than Bosa? How much are they paying their quarterback? I can understand their reluctance to shell out $32 million AAV for a player that apparently no matter how well he plays it won’t garner them a Super Bowl victory…according to you. All I’m saying is whatever he signs for Parsons will sign for more.
