Will Parcells get through to his team this year?

Bill Parcells stated a couple of times last season that for the first time in his life he was simply not able to reach his team in terms of communicating to them what is requried from them and getting them to execute on it. Although he might have been reffering to just a few players, the effect was clear across the team's performance every Sunday.

Question:

Do you think Parcells will have the same issues this year?

Are all those non reachable elements gone? (Wiley, Dixon, Gurode?, Carson, Anyone who played RCB)

Did some of the assistants fail Parcells by not reinforcing Parcells' message?

How much of a differnce would this make?

I think this was the differnce between 2-3 wins last year. A Head Coach plays the whole game in his mind and executes it in bit a pieces on each play of the game, if enough of those pieces are successful you will win the game, all players need to execute what the coach wants even if they don't understand the significance at the moment, this didn't happen last year.

I think this year's draft was as much about character and leadership as much as it was about talent. I think Parcells definitely had last years communications issues in mind when the Cowboys made their draft picks this year. I think the same is true for the new Coaching staff as well, Parcells wants to make sure his message gets all the way through this year.

This is a good question.

It was rather shocking the extent to which Bill griped he couldn't get through to his team last year. I think the degree to which it was a matter of talent (as opposed to bull-headedness or downright stupidity) was proven by the emphasis this off-season on signing better talent. It wasn't that they didn't want to do it last year; it was that they couldn't.

The team wasn't anywhere near the stage where the luxury of 'niche roles', and coaching up players to play multi roles, a la NE or even Philly, was the issue. That's for teams with tremendous depth already. Still, Parcells, coming off a fine coaching job in 03 that apparently fooled even him, operated, and spoke, all last summer like it was. Saying he hoped to get "impact" out of Daleroy Stewart had to be public coaxing of the player, wishful thinking, or an aborted league-wide smoke screen (didn't pull the wool over anyone's eyes tho, he was still Daleroy Stewart).

One thing that made Parcells Parcells was his ability to get the most out of his talent, but there is a limit. As Jason Witten was just quoted saying today, at some point in the season, (paraphrase) "Parcells lost it and we became stupid". LMAO!!

Shame on Bill.

It won't happen again tho. We shall see the Great Communicator in action again, even if he only speaks in barks and growls.

I think he will ,due to the fact I believe he got rid of the unreachables.
Plus he has more talent and that can do wonders .

Yes. He brought in 6 FA's and drafted 8 guys who are PARCELLS GUYS type player. And probably 8-9 of those will be starters now. This is Parcells team now.

JUst about the only non parcells type player I can think of is Pete Hunter. And he probably isnt nearly as bad as we as Cowboys fans make him out to be. Who knows maybe he will buy into Parcells philosophy, afterall seeing is believing.

Last year he was still shaping the roster. There were alot of hold overs from the previous regime. RCB wasnt unreachable, RCB were 7th rounders and guys off other teams practice squads.
