Will Phillips keep T.O.

haha, you guy's need to get a hold of youself. T.O. is and will be a cowboy like it or not, he has said on a number of occasions that no matter what if the team is winning then he is happy - no matter how we win. us fans have to show our players support, if we lose T.O. at any point then our season takes a hit.

Get over it haters. TO isn't going anywhere. You'll have to live with league leading numbers and a very dynamic offense again unfortunately.

bleu star is right on the money - i think the fact that we even have fans that are bashing T.O. is just stupid - you never bash your own player no matter what happens. T.O. helped us greatly last season and got us to the playoff's and he will only improve next season.

Phillips has no say whether TO is a Cowboy or not. That's why he's our head coach.

T.O. ain't going nowhere, we have the hardest receiver to guard in the league who puts up great numbers every year and he led us to the playoff's in his first year so why would we cut him? - in the past he has had some issues with his QB's but he and romo get along very well and that is a great thing for any team. just to answer that question though crissyboy, the eagles didn't do as good without T.O. - they were a superbowl team with T.O. and they just made the playoff's this year. T.O. tries on every play, i think you are confusing him with randy moss - T.O. tries on every play and you said his numbers weren't great - he led the league in TD receptions with 1 hand, i think that is pretty great.

Check the year you missed out: 2005 wasn't so hot - he was there then until they realised that they were better wihout him, and thus canned him part way through the season!

In fact, there was another great show of team ethos, having just lost in Dallas - TO wears a Michael Irvin jersey on flight back! Laughable, but that sort of cancer had to be cut out - and it was..... result: they returned to the playoffs.

This is so true. I think Phillips is better than Norv, but it's basically about Jerry wanting a defensive coordinator, and someone who will accept Jerry dictating personnel and staff decisions. I'm excited to see what Wade can do with our defense, but having another puppet coach with Jerry running the show again is making me nauseous.

I think an interesting question.

Of course, this is assuming Phillips gets the job.

I say dump him, send a message.

What would the message be? That the new coach is not really interested in scoring touchdowns? That the team has a rising star in Hurd and don't really need the 13 touchdown passes that TO led the league with? That TO was a big distraction to ESPN, and that regardless, Wade wants ESPN to love him?

no dude if you actually read up on what happened then you will see that half way through the season he was suspended for his comments - not his play. half way through that season he was on for an incredible year again so you should check that before you talk. the eagles were not even half the team they were with T.O. on it and they still aren't that, obviously you don't like T.O. but who cares? - fact is he is a cowboy and he is a damn good one.

Eagles
2003 12-4 No Owens.
2004 13-3 Owens
2005 6-10 Owens
2006 10-6 No Owens

Dallas
2005 9-7 No Owens.
2006 9-7 Owens.

Sometimes things you type to justify the mistake of signing Owens is borderline ********.

Where did I say he was canned for his play? Chck your facts.

Clearly, his play wasn't sufficient to keep him, given the extras that his hiring brings.

Whether I like him or not has nothing to do with the whole discussion. The facts are that he is not the premier receiver that he and you seem to profess. Whether he brings more to the table than he takes away is another debate.

^ the 2005 season only had owens for half the year so that means nothing.

and with us we have been a better team, we made the playoff's for the first time in 3 years. the year with owens in philly that he actually played they went all the way to the superbowl and could have won it thanks to T.O.

the facts show that he is the premier receiver in the league - he led the league in TD receptions last year with 1 hand, what does that say to you?.

It's not his choice to make.

It says to me that he was barely in the top 10 in all other measurables and that is why he wasn't even a reserve for this weekend's Pro Bowl.

Is that how you define premier?

i define premier as who is the hardest to gaurd, who puts up most TD's, who draws most doubles and T.O. is great in all of these aspects. the reason he didn't make the pro-bowl is people like you, the fans vote for the players and not too many people love T.O. plus he couldn't play because of his surgery.

And while I'm mentioning it.....

if he isn't premier given the tangibles.....

then your argument is really struggling as I'd bet he is near the bottom of the league in intangibles!!!

of course Wade keeps TO. Do you really think Wade has a say on anything. Jerry probably throws him a token and lets Wade hire his own TE coach. What a joke.

The Eagles played the playoffs without Owens. They lost the Superbowl when he returned.

who was the star player of the superbowl for the eagles? - seriously it's clear that you don't like T.O. and that's fine but he played the superbowl with a metal plate and 2 screws holding his leg together and still put up 9 receptions for 122 yards - that is a great player. the eagles would have won that superbowl if it wasn't for mcnabb.

Do tell, what message exactly does it send to release the team's best receiver, leaving you with Glenn and Crayton as your two top wide receivers?

I'll answer for you, the message is we don't care about winning.

Not the message that I want to hear. This team is built for a Superbowl run next year, and cutting Owens gets you further, not closer.
