He will begin season on PUP, yes. Guys who are trying to start week 1 are vocal, but he is silent. He is dogging his injuries IMO. Next man up, I presume Bass. Spencer I think will be ready, so that makes it Spence, Bass, Hatch and Ware. Or maybe Hayden?

I think in the Tampa-2, when you have a pass rusher like Ware or even a Spencer, you can put anyone next to them, and it will make the better.

That Ratliff is still recovering from a sports hernia surgery from December serious questions, starting with what did he do in the off season? He did not go through his rehab at Valley Ranch and was extremely limited in the organized team activities and June mini-camp.

In Oxnard, Calif., all of the injured players worked rehab on the field with associate athletic trainer Britt Brown or strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik. Ratliff did not do any on-field rehab work but he did some individual pass rush work with assistant defensive line coach Leon Lett.

“He does a lot of stuff in the weight room or by himself on the side with some of the guys that we have helping him with the rehab,” Garrett said. “Really the biggest thing with him is gaining some strength to get to the point where he can start doing some stuff on the field.”

Linebacker Alex Albright had a sports hernia surgery after the season ended and was able to practice in the spring. Former cornerback Terence Newman had the surgery in 2008 and was back on the field in six weeks.

I don't think he's dogging his injuries. If I go by what Garrett says, then I think the groin injury that he was dealing with is affecting his recovery more than anything else. But we'll see. His return is nothing but a plus, IMO.

Is this true? Who would give Archer that information?

I've had the surgery and if its like mine, it's basically patching a small hole in your lower gut. The patch is woven into the lining of your skin and there are no guarantees that the patch holds. If you push or lift too hard you can ruin burst the patch and then have to start all over. All that being said, some players who have had the surgery are on a less rigorous weight program than others so hard to compare to other players.
I'm with the majority, I think if he gets back he'll be serviceable at best. Next year he'll play for the Bengals and retire the year after. Too much drama and with the off field stuff, move on DC.

I think Livings, Ratliff, and Johnson may all end up on the PUP list.
