One thing that can't continue is the offense starting slow and not scoring and having to play catch-up the whole game.
Dak's first year was successful because the offense scored a majority of the time on their first drives.
That's why Garret always elected to receive the kickoff first due to the team consistently getting a lead.
After that season, it slowly declined and eventually lead to this team being horrible in scoring early.
The combination of an offense not being able to score and a defense leaking like a siv does and has spelled disaster for this team.

Agreed. This Offense is too talented to keep on starting slow. Need to score more TDs once in the Red Zone. A lot of it comes down to our Oline and how well it performs early and often.

Will the haters ever go away? Winning will cause you to crawl back under you and your fellow haters rocks.

Well you may be disappointed with the new training camp philosophy of little contact and valuable starters hold out and as you mentioned past trends of starting slow I figure slow and poor tackle to stay for a few games. However we'll improve as the season goes along.

Tell Zeke to stop fumbling. And maybe tell the defense to stop somebody for once. That might help. If Zeke would average more than 2.7 ypc in the first quarter that would probably help too.

Both the offense and the defense probably start slowly this year. A lot of the key players on offense missed most of the season, including the QB.

On defense, lots of new players, and a new DC.

+1 for Garrett for receiving the kick. Offenses generally have the initiative. I'd rather get the ball first in the second half when that initiative can be put to use with more information.

These are the post from rational Dallas fans that are NOT star struck. Just because you criticize the franchise doesn't mean you dislike/hate the team.

Now, I don't think the 1st two games are going to be good. Dallas starts 0-2. Tampa is going to carve up this Dallas defense. Going to take this defense time to "gel". Cowboys defense, historically has been mediocre. Always ranking as one of the worst in creating turnovers. Other than Landry/Jimmy eras, this franchise struggles to create turnovers. To beat Tampa, you are going to need to have the ball more than Tampa. Dak hasn't played in months, with zero pre-season reps. Same with T Smith, Collins and Martin. If Dallas fans just think the light switch is going to be flipped is star struck.

Going to take time to get LOTS LOTS LOTS of the rust off this starting offense and for the defense to understand Dan Quinn'e defense.

Pretty sure we start the game like it is 2016 again. Run up middle, run up middle, run up middle. Only it isn't 2016 and there is no first down at the end of this rainbow. We then punt and send the lambs to the slaughter. I sure hope Parsons is up to the challenge.

Unfortunately not having had the starting offense all play together in the preseason and our first couple of opponents suggests the answer will be yes....hope we are pleasantly surprised

what slow starts? what do you consider slow start? and if we ask that question we should also ask will the defense allow the fast starts for the opposing team? will they allow them to score 31 points by half time....

Could the slow starts be attributed to Kellen’s play calling? Well we’ll find out if he’s graduated.
This! I remember when we couldn’t wait to run scott linehan out of town because of his play calling

I see some similarities with the exception of Moore’s teams score more but a lot of the points are too little too late or against dog teams

You can't just turn this offense on like a light switch. I totally expect their first drive to be 3 and out. It will be 7-0 before they get the ball again.

I don't know, but I firmly believe this 1st game is not going to be a good example of what this team will look like 3-4 weeks from now.
We're going into this game with rookies and a QB that hasn't played in a live game for what, nearly a year? They're going to need some time to gel on both sides of the ball. But whatever they look like Thursday night, W,L, or draw, they're going to get better with a few weeks experience if we stay reasonably healthy.

*Garrett elected to receive the ball first because he’s football stupid.
