I love the guy's potential but is he a career long project?

I'd say this upcoming TC and Preseason are huge for him. Especially if we draft a WR or two. If he doesnt show anything more than he has so far or continues to struggle with the shoulder injury he might be gone.

It's really dishertening. The guy shows huge flashes but is about as fragile as a lightbulb. Maybe he should play in one of these so he won't get tweaked. :D

I'd be happy if he could at least show the progress Ronald Curry made after his first couple of years. Same type of situation .... two sport star, college QB making the transition to WR. Curry has had some good seasons and some average/below average seasons, but showed definite improvement after his first couple of seasons.

This guys is taking up a roster spot that could go to a player we can count on. I honestly can't see what the Cowboys see in him. Too many injuries not enough production.

Thats the problem with conversion projects. By the time they start to actually get it, their usually already on another teams roster.
These players rarely work out, and with the success this scouting dept has had with 4th rounders lately, they should just stick to players that have proven themselves at one pos. in college.

Mike Sherrard part deux

Except wasn't Sherrard a 1st round pick?

I'd be interested in seeing what he could do at QB. He wasn't great in college but if Anthony Wright can have a career as a 3rd string qb surely Stanback could.

Now thats thinking outside of the box.
Would love to see Stanback beat out Brooks, and still beable to return kicks, and provide depth at WR (5).

Nice version of slash, that would save a roster spot, maybe even two.

I agree he has to show himself in the mini camps and training camps to start with. I think this is a make or break year for Stanback

Well Ned, I don't know about the wr and kick returner stuff because after one tackle he'll be done.

I would try to see if Ireland wants him. I don't see any opportunity for him here. We need to give his opportunity to a player with a future playing WR, not some oft-injured project. He's spoken on several occasions like a person who really is not giving it his all to become a WR and I believe he still really thinks that he should get a shot as a QB.

I'm still trying to figure out why everyone all the sudden hates this guy. Everyone used to be hot on the guy and now everyone acts like he is Bobby Carpenter. When he has been on the field he has shown real signs of talent. He has just had this stupid shoulder problem. Like I said in the last post. If he has that same injury again, I let him go. Otherwise, I give this kid a chance. Athletically, he is a freak of nature. Maybe not quite a Michael Vick, but not far from it either. I will take that in a heartbeat if it can workout. His speed, agility, and strength make him a threat to take it to the house everytime he touches the ball. You think Desean Jackson is exciting? If Stanback can every get into form running his routes and catch anything near him, I think he will blow Jackson away. He will be a smaller but faster Larry Fitzgerald.

...of course, thats only if his talent pans out. For that to happen, the injuries have to stop.
