We keep hearing about deal after deal after deal that is in the toilet thanks to little Stevie and Jerry having to save the day. What happens when Jerry is gone? Will any agent want to deal with this clown? Are we ever going to be able to sign anyone without vastly overpaying?

He did previously cave to and got played by Dak, Zeke and Lawrence in embarrassing fashion, so anything can happen.

The yin to the current yang.

This must be where the haters go to post their ignorant ideas about Stephen Jones. Just because he doesn't get the free agents you want doesn't mean he is disinterested in FA. He signs free agents every off-season so why would this on be any different?

We all loved Jayron Kearse last year and I'm wondering what the holdup is.

Last minute behavioral clause. It will be standard for all Dallas contracts going forward. :muttley::banghead:

J/K, probably too far apart on the $$$ or maybe the length of the contract. But with Maye just signing with the Saints, it was possible they were waiting for a market tone to be set. Then they can go from there on a deal.
But his deal may proved Stephen out of negotiations.

It all started when Zeke cut in line to get a new deal. How did that work out? If Roger suspended him, he never would have held out of camp. I expect another back drafted with one of the Cowboys 90 fifth round picks. WIll need a new QB drafted next year.

Just from the impression I get, the players don't really like Stephen Jones like they like Jerry Jones. Stephen is the cold, calculating accountant/businessman who is always thinking bottom line while Jerry is the wild, free, personable wheeler and dealer. Stephen is more analytical while Jerry is more personable.

If I was running a mutual fund then I'd go with Stephen Jones, but in a people industry like the nfl, you can't approach the business like he does... especially when you are dealing with players who have a ton of different options and offers on the table. You can't treat an nfl player like a Mcdonalds employee who has no other real prospects for jobs and try to twist their arm to get them to accept lesser deals. You might be able to pull that off for the short term, but you are establishing a reputation and when that player has the opportunity to stick it to you, they will.

He has interpersonal issues......not a natural communicator like Jerry. Seriously, how many owners do you hear/read about with strong relationships with their players? I'm sure part that is being GM/owner vs players rarely deal with other NFL owners coz the management structure ( GM, Pres, CEO). I can't remember hearing any former player saying something bad about Jerry.......

That turned out to be misinformation.

Probably not cause why else would you want to stay here in this dysfunctional atmosphere and toxic culture unless you were being over paid .

SJ acts like its his own money hes having to put out there.

He's disinterested if he can't get a significant discount.

As he should. Overpaying players does not win championships. Which was the last team that just paid guys willynilly that won a super bowl?

Here what I'm hoping for once the change takes place for real.....

-SJ ego is not as big as the old man and he may consider a real HC and staff.....and not force some self picked puppet as an OC.

-His entire existence is not about proving to the world that he is a football guy. Maybe he hires a person with actual experience to run football ops.

-While he probably will do radio stuff because he was raised to believe that needs to be done to sell your product, just maybe he won't go to the lengths of getting people fired or changing flagships to censor the local media.

-Hoping his need to be liked isn't as bad as the old man, and player relationships aren't a huge factor in paying players.

They signed some of their own. So yes.
And they lucked into losing Gregory. That is like signing a player making better use of that $$$.

That means nothing!!! Who wouldn't want to play under HC's who all have less power than a 6th grade substitute teacher...and an organization that expects zero accountability???
