Will the coaches learn from their mistakes vs Detroit and have a solid game plan?

Before the Detroit game, and after our big wins vs Philly and KC, I thought if the coaches had solid game plans, we had a very good chance of beating Detroit.

Well, the game plan vs Detroit was far from solid. It was actually very basic and predictable in a couple areas. If Shotty and Eberflus fix, these fixable, problems we have a good chance of earning a W vs Minnesota.

Eberflus’s problem has been a consistent problem most of the year, especially prior to the trade deadline. It was a problem vs Detroit. His pass defense plays to soft on the back end, in both zone, and man to man. And his defense does not work together. Vs Detroit early in the game when we would blitz and get some pressure the back end was playing soft and giving up easy completions, even though Goff was getting rid of the ball very quickly! When the D blitz’s everyone on the D has to be prepared to make a play on the ball quickly, and play tighter coverage. No soft man( Bland) or soft zone when we blitz!

Shotty pulled a Jason Garrett( Chaz Green game) and didn’t help his OT’s on passing downs. Dak played a very good game considering the pressure he was under due to the OT’s lousy play. We have 3 excellent receivers let them beat the coverage down field and keep our TE and RB in to chip. They still can get into the pattern after chipping. Shotty needs to game plan using plays which make life a little easier on passing downs for the tackles( chipping, screens, max protect with 7guys sometimes and let our 3 receivers do their thing).

Coaching Matters a lot. A solid game plan and we win!!!

MOE: Why that’s an 8 ball!
MATTIE HERRING: Sit right down behind it.

We tied the score in the fourth quarter, we were a beat up team, spent after taking on the Eagles and the Chiefs. If it was a normal seven day game schedule, I believe we would’ve beat Detroit.

I also think the receivers were worn out. Pickens is going to have a great game against Minnesota.

Game plans work brilliantly with better players

The coaches? It's the players. It's defensive scheme.
It’s both. The coaches are the ones that decide on the scheme and the game plan.

The Whiners have lost there best 2 players on their defense( Bosa and Warner) and 2-3 other starters on defense. They are still playing good defense because their DC is really good at designing defense’s that confuse the offense.

Again, coaching matters a lot, especially in football where all 11 guys need to work together and do their own specific job!

Detroit played the same schedule

And putting average players in better positions to make plays works really good too. See Whiners defense with all their injuries.

Many people, even those who played football, don’t understand the importance of coaching. You can be coached to just do your job in this situation etc. and don’t understand everyone else’s jobs. You have a simpler few of the game because you are only looking at the game from your one players point of view. You may not really understand what it takes to get all 11 players working together in real time.

Very few players understand the game the way the coaches do. QB’s on offense and MLBers on defense come the closest.

Well of course it's Eberflus. He's terrible. But other than him, we are fine on the coaching front. We simply have players that aren't good enough or the scheme on defense is bad..or a combination of the 2. Sometimes you just need better players. Eberflus has to go though. He's not adaptive at all.

So far the scripted series have been our worst
Everything was a struggle in the 1st quarter and a half or so. We moved the ball, but it was a struggle. We needed to convert a lot of 3rd downs, and players needed to make really good plays just to get in range to make long FG’s.
Detroit was averaging like 4 more yards per play in the 1st half.
Coaches could have made it easier on our players with better play design. Detroit’s offense dam sure made it easy for their players to make plays. Then again, Eberflus’s D made it easy because they were not playing cohesive team D.

We are going to play an off man soft zone for 90 percent if not more of the game on defense and we are just going to have to deal with it. Our corners will be 10 yards off the ball and only four will go after the QB.

It doesn’t matter if we give up 40 points. It doesn’t matter what the situation is. That’s going to be the way it is because that’s what it’s been all year come hell or high water. This defensive coordinator doesn’t care about any of that.

I saw it live in Charlotte attending the game and we’ve seen it every week no matter what is going on.

That’s the only thing I know for certain we will get from the coaching staff.

We ran the 5 man front that's been successful for exactly 11 times, most of it first 7 minutes of game.

This is a problem.we were getting pressure on Goff.

I like Shotty so far, but I’m definitely not sold on him. To often we start slow on offense. Specifically there are things that can be done to protect struggling players. He needs to make sure our OT’s get help either by play design or chipping etc.
What happened in the Arizona game? Nobody did their job, including the coaches!

Also, Shotty is the HC. He is ultimately responsible for the offense and defense. He sees the defensive backs playing soft in blitz situations etc. He makes excuses for Kenneth Murray.
