Will the Cowboys ever bring in a huge nasty run stuffer?

Those guys really don’t grow on trees anymore. You can find guys like Ridgeway in later rounds, but it’s luck if the guy is there where you value him. The real studs at DT are so special that they have elite athleticism to also Rush the passer or inhuman strength and power to collapse pockets. Those round one guys just are not plentiful.

Makes perfect sense, but this point will be lost on the keyboard warriors here who are never satisfied.

They are probably the most overlooked, ignored, and disrespected guys in the NFL.

Many fans even judge DT's or NT's by how many tackles and even sacks they have. They don't understand that this position has an effect on every other position on defense. They stop runs at the line of scrimmage. They close the hole to runs in the middle of the field. Sometimes their job is simply to get in the way.

Physically, they cause the RB to deviate from his intended direction which allows the LB's to come in and get the stats. Some of the best run stuffers in Dallas Cowboys history were almost all top 5 overall picks in their draft like Bob Lilly, Randy White, Russell Maryland, and Tony Casilles, An excellent run stopper from the DE position was "Too Tall Jones", the #1 overall pick in the 1974 draft.

Every Cowboys Super Bowl team had at least one of those guys. It was also the reason the Cowboys were ranked #1 against the run for many of the seasons they went to a Super Bowl.

Don't worry ...... In a few months Zeke will be back and ready

He'll be able to get that 1-3 yards to the QB.

We peaked at Nick Hayden and the fans have been spoiled since.

Here y'all go...

With pick #27...big run stuffer DT with a mean streak, nonstop motor, very strong and 6'6", 310 lbs.

Should be a priority.. Maybe Hankins should have been top priority.

Like Hankins?
Read yesterday, that Dallas talked to Hankins. But right now he has no interesting signing at this time, or to sign anywhere.
Article said probably wants to miss the off-season stuff and maybe even part of the rigors of TC.

Hankins will be signed and a DT will be taken in the top 3 picks.

Hankins may not be interested in playing, OR he may not be interested in camp. I hope it's the latter and we have him ready for week 1.

Mazi Smith...Overrated.
There’s only one elite DT in the draft, just as there was only one elite DT in free agency.

Nevertheless, people here will complain that we don’t have one of them and rate our off-season a failure because we didn’t blow up our entire free agency and future drafts when we “failed”.

So, if people don’t want a guy like Smith, they need to accept the results and not wish that we lived in a different universe.
