get surgery? If he had done so when he was first diagnosed with the injury he would be 3 or 4 weeks into rehabb now and getting ready to come back.

If he goes and have surgery now he would be back around the 10th or the 11th game of the season, if he continues to play he could risk serious damage to himself, as well as hamper the team.

But could the team stay in the thick of things without McNabb if he did go have surgery now?

Either way the team is hampered and they risk not making it to the playoffs, in my mind.

Whether McNabb plays or not, they are not beating us this season. I said when we lost to the skins, that we would make that game up against the eagles, and then when we lost to the raiders I said well there is another game that people picked us to lose that we will win, and I believe that will also be against the eagles.

I have felt even before the season started that we had a good enough team to win our division.

When we signed Bledsoe and Henry and Ferguson, along with the draft picks, I mean all of them, I felt that we would have a very good team this season.

I never once felt that we would go less than 12-4. I pick us to go 13-3, but no less than 12-4.

In preseason watching the undrafted rookies show their stuff, I felt real good about this team, we are on the right track.

Price was a good signing also, he may have been signed for insurance, it still was a good signing, he only makes us stronger and he needs to get on the field.

He will not be taking away from anyone, he is another deep threat, Thompson was the fastest on the team, until we signed Price. Just think if teams are worrying about Glenn beating them deep, what they will be thinking when they have to face the possibility of Price and Glenn on the field at the same time in some of our 3 an 4 receiver sets.

The end around would be a lot more productive with Price running it than slow footed Key.(now before anyone get the wrong idea, I like Key) he is just not fast enough to run that play, and I am tired of seeing him run it, let someone else with more speed run it, anybody.

I'm happy that Ratliff finally got to suit up, and he played well from what I saw, now I'm waiting to see Johnson come in and play, Ihave a feeling once they let him play they will find it hard not to suit him up.

They will play McNugget till he splits open on the field and his guts are showcased on ESPN. The Eagles are NOTHING without McNugget.

I cant stand the eagles but I do feel for McNabb. I know a few guys who have had this injury, they say getting out of bed was a struggle let alone playing football. I respect the guy for trying to play through this.
On the other hand is he helping or hurting his team? He keeps getting hit and he wont ever heal. No way he finishes this season, they need to spend the bye week getting Detmer ready.

McNabb is far from the only problem on that team right now. They can't run the ball at all and their defense is giving up tons of points.

The Eagles should have made him get surgery from the beginning. Even if they split the games without him, they would be in great shape for a playoff run. The blueprint has now been written on how to beat the Eagles. Lito Sheppard and the rest of the secondary will be attacked now. The fear of playing the Eagles is now gone. Now it may be too late to have the surgery. Him missing 6 weeks now w/ teams not fearing the defense could mean the season would be over before he ever made it back on the field.

Hasn't anybody heard Brian Cox talk about this?

Cox had the same surgery....4-6 weeks is only if you are living in a utopia. He'll be done for this season if he has it now.

Listen to the show that he is on everyday. He'll talk about it again.

I think it was pretty obvious in the Bradshaw/McNabb interview that if McNabb has the surgery he would pretty much be done for the season and I have no doubt the eagles would be done for the season as well.

McNabb will not have the surgery until either he cannot perform at all, the season is over, or the eagles season is over (in the case that the team just tanks and goes south they may just decide to let detmer play) but i dont see that happening.

But the eagles have a bye and then 4 tough games, that will tell a lot, after those 4 games the schedule looks a lot easier for them, so if mcnabb is still standing and they go 3-1 or 2-2 they will still be able to make a run for the division title and in that case i hardly see mcnabb sitting unless he gets to the point where he just cannot play effectively at all.

The "McNabb story" is the perfect example of what can happen to a team when a franchise QB gets hurt in a parity driven, salary cap league situation! Look at Indie, NE, Steelers............losing their QB's would prove disastrous (could have happened to the Steelers last night when Rothinsberger (sp) went down at the end of the game). Sure these teams have good defenses but how good will the defense be if they are on the field all the time with no offense playing long enough to give them some rest. Most teams cannot afford a second "very good backup due to the salary cap. Most of you will say look at Atlanta.......and my answer would be I don't think Vick can be called a franchise QB at this time......he is a great runner but is not yet an established NFL passer. And the young kid from Virginia may be better overall for the team than Vick himself as he is an excellent passer! Closer to home.....where would we be without Bledsoe? Something to think about isn't it? :star: :star: :star:

I'll be honest...I like McNabb as a player and a person. The last thing I want to see is the guy get hurt for two reasons: 1) I like watching him play 2) If he's not playing, the Eagles will always have an excuse if they're losing.

The Cowboys went out and beat the **** out of the Eagles. Sure, McNabb was hurt, but he was hurt last week vs. the Chiefs also.

The Eagles definitely have a decision on their hands. Risk further injury to their MVP or risk it for the betterment of the team's success? McNabb's young...he could sit out the rest of the season and not miss a beat come next year, however this means the Eagles will be done this season and probably next if they stand pat over the TO and Westbrook situations.

Like I said...tough decision. If I made it...McNabb would have the surgery and be done with it. During the offseason, I'd use that salary cap money to get a true running back, trade TO, and have a healthy McNabb.

Honestly, I don't think they can win without him. They throw the ball more than they run and their running game will suffer from opposing defenses stacking the line and not respecting their backup QB. Their defense hasn't played up to its potential so far this year, so you can forget about the Eagles D keeping them in games.

The Eagles are being really tight lipped about their real plan with McNabb. What you wrote is very close to the truth, IMO.

Good post.

It's interesting that McNabb says that surgery would put him out 4-6 weeks, because the Eagles are saying 8-12 weeks. I think it's somewhere in between and he won't finish the season without surgery.

I think McNabb's 'hernia', which it isn't, is one of the most overblown maladies in recent history. McNabb has been seriously injured before, and looked like he did Sunday. He's also been perfectly healthy before, and looked like he did Sunday. Its an excuse for Eagles fans and a crutch for the hopes of the NFC East. He's had it since training camp and went into Sunday one of the leading NFL passers, and not just in total numbers.

My guess is the Eagles want McNabb to finally win an NFL MVP title and, if they're going to win their usual 11-12 games and make the NFC Championship, this makes him a more appealing candidate.
