Out of respect I am inclined to preface this post by saying how much I admire Jason Witten.

That being said, according to Witten and Bledsoe there was 'miscommunication' there at the goal-line in Philly. In his interview, I think Witten basically admitted to the costly error.

Thus far after four games Witten has not had a stellar season. So far I've seen at least two false starts and numerous dropped balls. Now, wrong routes with the game on the line.

So I ask the forum this: Has Witten let the money go to his head? Do you think that big contract has made him soft? Or is he just having a rough start?

Witten may not have been to blame according to the DMN:

"Bledsoe had time on his final pass Sunday – which was returned 102 yards for a touchdown by cornerback Lito Sheppard – but he made a poor choice, according to Parcells. Bledsoe threw to the outside. Tight end Jason Witten wasn't supposed to turn to the outside on the hook route and didn't, even though linebacker Jeremiah Trotter was to the inside. Sheppard moved into a vacant area of the zone after following Terry Glenn in motion, putting him in position to pick off the pass."

Witten may have his head in the clouds with a new contract and a bouncing baby boy but he is not the only problem with the offense. Fortunately, there is still time to correct some of the problems they're having with timing and execution.

The same can be said concerning the defense....

Witten does seem less effective. That intereference call that cost us a TD in Jax was huge. But overall, he's one of the best TEs in the league and I'm glad he's on our side. I blame Bledsoe for the passing game woes. I know the O line is a work in progress, but somebody has got to be open with all these weapons we have. Even when he has time, he is not finding them. Ooh how we should have made Philly pay for all that blitzing.

I came into the season a big Witten fan, but he has been very disappointing this season. He has dropped a lot of passes and missed a lot of blocks.

On the play before Bledsoe's first interception, Witten was lined up outside of Flo. At the snap, Witten tried to block Howard to the inside, but he whiffed and pushed Flo forward. Howard ran right past Witten to tackle Julius for a 4 yard loss.

With :57 left in the half, Witten missed another block and the Cowboys had to punt. Fasano had an even worse block on that play. On the replay you could read Parcells lips calling Fasano a big, soft, Son Of a B@#$%. Then he followed them both to the sidelines cursing them out.

However, he made some nice plays (including a big catch on the first TD drive) and took a few big hits.

On the final interception it looked to me like he was hit by the LB in the end zone (7 yards off the line of scrimmage) preventing him from breaking to the outside. I thought illegal contact should have been called. In any case, Bledsoe should not have thrown that pass.

Witten is set to have 52 catches and 592 yards with zero touchdowns.

Considering I was expecting more production with TO and Glenn getting double covered it is quite disappointing. If TO and Glenn were having a field day and he was only getting these numbers I wouldn't be half as disappointed.
