Will the returning defensive players really make a difference?

I'd like to think that when we get McClain, Hardy, Mincey and Gregory back that all of a sudden we will have a better pass rush and run defense, But how long will it take these guys to shake off the rust and, even after they do, will it be the cure we seem to think it will?

Let me say I am optimistic but things aren't turning out the way I had hoped for this season.:(

only Mincey will be back next game, hope they pull it out.

We'll be fine - just don't expect us to really gel on both sides of the ball until December. Unfortunately the defense will probably be playing from behind until Romo and Dez get back but once they do and the pass rush is really unleashed the Cowboys will be hard to beat - the question is will we be in the mix still.

Yes. You think Ryan has that kind of pocket with Hardy and Gregory rushing? You think RB McNoname runs as hard after getting stuffed up by McClain?

Jones is going to get his if Ryan is left that unscathed.

This is what worries me. Can we hold down the fort until reinforcements arrive? I hope we still have something to fight for when Romo and Dez are both out there again.

The pass rush should get considerably better considering were missing 3 of our top rushers. That was the reason we lost. No pressure.

Is this a serious question? YOU really don't think Greg Hardy who is one of the best defensive players in the LEAGUE, Gregory who was SPECTACULAR in Week 1 before going down, and McClain who certifies the Lb core is gonna make a difference?

cant hurt it! at this point, we're running out of quality bodies. Thought the FO settled after we signed Hardy and drafted Gregory in the 2nd, we still needed more. Especially after losing Spencer and Selvie.

You may think both are bums, but they are both better bums than Jack Coleman, #97, #63 and the new #93.

Getting Hardy and Gregory back will be huge, we go from not having a good edge rusher to having 2. If you can put pressure on a good QB you can't stop them as we saw today

Of course. The only real question is will the difference be enough to keep the team afloat long enough for Romo to get healthy.

Ro will make a difference by himself. But with the other 2 it's going to be even better! Talent wins in this league!

The way this season is going, I'm afraid that what we look forward to will be just another disappointment. I hope they do what we all expect and it helps us turn this season around. But seeing our best players go down and seeing players I thought were good stinking up the place, I can't help but worry that the pass rush won't be what we need even when those guys return. Hardy is rusty, Gregory is a rookie, McClain is a blunt away from suspension, etc. I guess I'm becoming a Negative Nancy. Somebody help me.

Hardy was great in pre-season even after not playing for a year. He'll be fine and even if he was rusty he's still a hell of a lot better than anyone we have on that DL right now. Gregory is a rookie sure, but he wasn't playing like one in pre-season. He has the total package to be a special, special defensive end. As for McClain even if he messes up again there is plenty of depth at linebacker.

Can they stop a back up rb from gashing us for 140 some yards?

It may be too little to late. We needed a win today and next week to have a good chance. Or a win in either game to have a slight chance. Now next week is looking pretty doubtful or at least very questionable.
By the time we get those defenders back. The quality of opponent goes up. And we still won't have the most important piece. I don't see a Weeden or Cassell led team putting up 28 points in any game after New Orleans. New England,at the Giants(they'll have their injured starters back) and Seattle then Philly. Who will probably be playing for or leading the division by that time.
It's going to take miracles. Who knows. Maybe the football gods will feel sorry for us and let us luck in to a win or two.

Yes. I predict a big improvement.
