Now that Micah is gone, could we see more blitz packages from our defense?
I believe that we will be no worse than the 15th ranked total defense this season. I think guys are going to be motivated to show that 1 person doesn't stop the show, and will play with a renewed sense of anger, ferocity, and most of all physicality !!! So, as far as I am concerned Thursday vs Filthadelphia can't get here fast enough !!!

Eberflus blitzes less than pretty much any DC in the league. That's not going to change because he doesn't have Micah since he didn't have Micah anywhere else he coached.

Our pass rush will probably suffer from not having one of the best pass rushers in the game, but Eberflus has generally had good run defenses wherever he has been and usually his defenses create quite a bit of turnovers. We probably can expect to see that here, especially since we just improved the NT position.

If teams can't run, they will have to pass. I like our secondary. My only hope is that we have enough pass rush where the CBs dont have to cover too long.

This will grow and the two recently signed cornerbacks will even bring in some heat helping team play.

Secondary has some questions that have to be answered, too. Elam was traded to us for practically nothing because the Bills couldn't rely on him. Maybe Eberflus' scheme will use him in a way that will keep that from happening here, but Buffalo couldn't figure out how. Diggs is coming back from a second major injury. How ready is he to step back into it? If he isn't ready, do we really feel good about a rookie UDFA being our next-best third option?

Long-term this year, I feel like the corners will be a strength if Revel gets healthy and Diggs is able to shake off the rust, even if Elam is what he was in Buffalo. But I don't know about early in the season.

Eberflus has blitzed at about 24 percent of the time, if I recall correctly.

I expect about 30-33 percent here.

It will be interesting to see what Eberflus thinks of them. Considering one was with him in Chicago, maybe the DC sees him as the third option if Diggs isn't ready to play Week 1.

Buffalo coaches didn't have the patience for him, and misused him.

Where Buffalo messed up was drafting elam to transition him to a cb spot he didn't play in college. Elam said he would play whereever Buffalo needed him to play in the CB role. Of course you say the right things to impress the coaches.

End of the day, he couldn't play the role Buffalo wanted him to because he only played one CB role in college.

If I'm not mistaken I believe Buffalo wanted elam in some kind of zone scheme, but elam played man mostly in college.

Anyway it was confusing for the kid and Buffalo put him on the shelf in favor of players that faired better in the scheme.

That is totally on Buffalo. With the right coaching, elam has potential.

CB blitz is maybe about all

Anything else NO DON'T DO IT, we leave our CB's on islands, and our rush never gets to the qb, someone falls over another rusher/QB is touched but somehow is able to get free and make a play

If I was a part of that staff I would definitely be hammering home the message the world believes they are nothing without Micha. Let's go prove them wrong etc.

I believe in Clark, Osa, and the DEs. I think the LBs will be good under Eberflus.

Tbh, I think we’re now just a couple of DBs away from a top 10 D - and I’m not joking.

Guys here are often too harsh on our defense.

it may come down to that and its risky. some big plays will be made. bunch of big plays will be given up. if your sole approach to generate pass rush is based on blitz, you are in trouble.

We will be playing mostly zone. The only difference is that we'll primarily use Cover 3, which allows the outside corners to stay outside and essentially cover the sideline. That may help Elam succeed, but we'll see.

That will atleast make things a little more simple for him.
