I'm hearing lots and lots of hype about Von Miller and how he most definitely will be gone in the top 5, but I can't get past some things i've heard about him in the past. From what i understand, he's a high character guy with great work ethic, and he's a tremendous athlete. But I've also heard he's poor against the run, and that he's really overrated.
Check out this link from Niners Nation: http://www.ninersnation.com/2011/3/9/2039709/2011-nfl-draft-is-von-miller-going-to-be-a-bust

There are more examples similar to this one, but I don't have time to do all of the research right now. So my question is, if for some reason he was available at 9, would you want us to draft him?

In a heartbeat. Anyone can be a bust even PP or Tyron  ..

This is what really sucks about strecthing this draft proccess out peple run out of things to do and just nick pick everyone. Our forums version is Tyron smith right now previously it was Prince.

Only way to tell who's a bust and who's not is to let them play NFL downs, we'll see what happens.

I haven't seen anything from Miller to suggest he's got high bust potential though.

What sucks about conversation?

No. I think he's a 43 OLB. I don't think he's a Sam in a 34.

I think he gets mowed down as a 3-4 OLB. 234lbs is roadkill when you've got a 320lbs+ OL (+90lbs) with a head of steam running at you. He will need the four down linemen in front of him to pick up the big bodies.

I think he is more of a "joker" linebacker. He can do a lot of different things and I think he fits best with a 3-4 disguising defense such as Pitt or NE.

If he goes to a 3-4 team, he will fail (Golhsten(sp?) anyone)

If he goes to a 4-3 team with a good def coordinator he'll be good-great.

If he goes to a 4-3 team with bad everything he'll be around average.

He's got some good skills, but I don't see him in the same league as Ware, or Mathews. He's like the J. Harrison of the 4-3. You put some talent around him, and a good system and he can wreak havioc. Outside of that he'll most likely fail.

IMO, I think if he gained some weight (about 20lbs) he might be able to become a Derrick Thomas type player. I think his frame could handle an extra 15-20lbs pretty easily.

Miller is a beast that can be a bust in the wrong scheme. Miller will be a great 3-4 WOLB. Now at SOLB he would be a bust. Gets taken off the field by one on one blocks in the run game. He can't tackle in open space or with the RB running right at him. LSU attacked right at Miller in the Cotton Bowl. Thats why he can't be a SOLB. But at WOLB in a 3-4 or even a 4-3 he will be a beast. He can cover pretty good and I think he can also be a RILB in a 3-4.

Miller would be a great player, almost Derrick Thomas like at WOLB.
He would be a very good player at WOLB in a 4-3.
Miller would be a pro bowl player and very good at RILB in a 3-4.
Any team tries to make him a 3-4 SOLB, a 4-3 DE, or a 4-3 SOLB then he will be a bust. Buffalo, Arizona, and SF all need 3-4 WOLB and Miller will not get by them.

I see him as a Mo in a 3-4. If Ryan had him there he could throw all sorts of schemes at offenses. We have a Mo tho in Lee. Not sure Lee can be a Mike. I envision him as a joker lb too. Let him line up all over the place at times. He would raise hell.

I think he'd have problems with the run on the outside. As a Mo he'd be covered the majority of the time.

I like Von Miller but it is hard to say how he will fair at the next level. Frankly I would not be surprised if he becomes a star in this league or a bust. I think there is too much of a risk factor to take him high.

If he pumps up to 255lbs like I stated, I think he would be better off. I think the 234lbs he is now, will get him in a boat load of trouble against 300+lbs linemen.

Doesn't really matter, the people that disliked him to start till dislike him. With two weeks to go, nothing is going to change the image they have of him as a 215 lb weakling who gets sand kicked in his face at the beach. :laugh2:

I'm with you, Spencer, Lee, Miller, and Ware as the LBs would be great. Then get a true NT and move Rat to RDE and blitz on the right side. Send Ware, Rat, and Miller, one will get to the QBs back.

I don't believe he can add another 15 to 20 lbs. I think it will be difficult for him to add 10 lbs. He is very well built right now. I think he is pretty much maxed out as far as weight. I would not draft him with the expectation that he can get any bigger. If you think he can help a team at his current size, then take him.

I forgot about that. He still needs about 10lbs. That is workable though.
