Will Ware end up in the Pro bowl this season?

you called me a homer for predicting we'd win :(

Tell it to Rack - I never said we'd lose. Your reasons for predicting the win however, I do recall taking issue with. That's about you having a lame argument.

I don't think Ware goes to Hawaii this year unless he gets in as an alternate.

He's a great player who's doing great things for us, but because he's not the typical 3-4 OLB, it may take him another year or two, along with our defense getting more and more recognition, before he makes it across the ocean.

He's not an all out pass rusher who's dominating and racking up lots of sacks or making impressive hits, and he's not a typical 4-3 LB getting int's or scoring TD's....when you're a do-it-all LB doing a bit of everything, you don't get the stats in one area that people look for...he's unlikely to ever have the sack total of some other 3-4 pass rushers because we use him in so many other roles.

He's unlikely to have the turnovers and total tackles of some LBs who have the plays funnelled to them for tackles every play.

He's a great do-it-all LB, but his overall game and the way we use him is unlikely to get him to Hawaii until he gets a couple years of recognition as the leader on a great defense...he's well on his way.

The question is who goes in ahead of him? Here's the names on the ballot --

B. Bailey, DET
M. Boley, ATL
L. Briggs, CHI
K. Brooking, ATL
D. Brooks, TB
B. Chillar, STL
K. Dansby, ARI
T. Davis, CAR
N. Diggs, CAR
G. Ellis, DAL
C. Emmons, NYG
S. Fujita, NO
A. Hawk, GB
E. Henderson, MIN
L. Hill, SEA
H. Hillenmeyer, CHI
W. Holdman, WAS
O. Huff, ARI
D. Jones, PHI
M. Lawson, SF
B. Leber, MIN
M. McCoy, PHI
B. Moore, SF
R. Nece, TB
J. Peterson, SEA
B. Poppinga, GB
S. Shanle, NO
B. Short, NYG
E. Sims, DET
P. Tinoisamoa, STL
D. Ware, DAL
M. Washington, WAS

Lance Briggs probably will go, and Julian Peterson probably should. I think Ware is in the running for the third spot, though (with Brooking, Washington and a few others). Another big game Thursday on national TV would really help Ware's case.

For fans, I think there's always that tendency to reach for the greener grass on the other side. I think a guy like Ware falls into this territory for us.

Could he be a better pass rusher at times? Yeah, I'm sure he could. But I think it's unfortunate when players like him are underappreciated because someone the team passed on, in this case Merriman, generates bigger numbers and more press.

Merriman could end up being 10 times the player Ware is. Who knows. But it's not like we swung and missed with Ware. He's already one of our best players. Instead of wishing for someone else, I think we should just be pleased we selected a franchise building block and didn't whiff on the pick.

How many OLB's per conference go to the Pro Bowl? 4?

Three are chosen. If any of them can't go, an alternate goes.

To me, whatever Merrimen does is a non factor. He is a cheater. I have no use for him anymore.

Ware is an upstanding young man who is as solid as they come on the field.

Some people are really blowing this whole Merriman thing up. If I recall correctly, Juluis Peppers served a 4 game suspension for steroids/illegal substances his rookie year. Does it mean he's a cheater, maybe. Is he probably the best defensive end in football now? Yeah. Had we drafted Merriman, most of us would believe he's innocent until we saw a noticable drop in weight, strength, or play. Let's see how he plays before we disreguard his accomplishments.

The 3 year rule applies to all rookies not just Cowboy rookies.

Merriman tested positive for an anabolic steroid. Peppers did not.

It's interesting to see the different reactions people have to football players that test positive than, say, baseball players. Is it because it's "expected" in football?

I've seen so many times on ESPN where people shrug this off and say, "Yeah, but he'll still be the best defensive player when he returns." As if it were nothing.

Yet with Bonds, Sosa, McGwire....evereyone wants them thrown out of the game.

and he does it all without the help of roids...

today DeMarcus was doing things that I have never seen him do. He was really playing a chess match with Peyton and Peyton knew where he was every play. That is respect.

He looked like a man playing out of his skull today. Some of the fake/no fake/real blitzs he did were absoultly wonderful to watch and reminded me of how some of the old school 3-4 backers did it. I cannot wait to see the film on this game.

They really turned him loose today and we made a point of cutting the entire defense loose and bringing pressure. Zimmer should remember that today was a hint of what this defense is capable when it's shackles are removed. Burnett, Raitliff, and Carpenter can also all hold their heads high because they did their jobs well.

Of course we're going back to a contain cover-two against Tampa in four days and will get to watch a rookie QB from Toledo with nothing to lose make play after play.

From the heartland of all accurate thought, Cowboy America 100,000 watts of power is of the opinion that . . .

He's not at that creme de la creme level yet. The second half of the season will tell . . . .

And he was getting ripped on this forum not too long ago.

I told you this guy is for real :p

I say no, he won't.

The 3-4 LBs don't get a lot of love, so sacks are even more sexy and important than usual.

He doesn't have enough.

Peppers tested positive for ephedra which is an over the counter supplement, Merriman tested positive for steroids
