Will Witten/Fasano's roles with the offense diminish?

With letting Lousaka Polite go, and adding Tony Curtis we've placed our tight ends in the role in which they need to step up at fullback or h-back, what ever you want to call it. Meaning they'll be doing predominantly more blocking than running routes.

Even if we use witten like we used Richie Anderson, it won't be as much as what we did before.

I was hoping that we could get that type of production out of Fasano. But with Curtis only able to play TE, he is only going to be able to spell someone at that position.

Polite barely played this season, they will continue to do the same roles they already have been doing, they should actually become more involved in the passing game if the o-line improves in pass blocking or if they change qbs.

Well, we've already got one game we can look at to see how Polite's absence will affect the offense. Against the Texans, we threw 5 balls to Witten and 2 to Fasano. Their per game averages for the seaon are 5.6 and 1.6, so nothing has changed there.

Where we have definitely changed though, is throwing to the backs. We don't do it anymore. Zero passes to RB's last week. When Parcells says he's thinking about using Barber more, it might be because he wants a back who can catch and provide consistent blocking. We weren't getting any receptions from Polite, and we're apparently not going to throw anything to Julius.

Which still doesn't explain why we haven't been throwing more passes to Barber while he's been in there. MB's carries and catches are both down from last year. It'll help opposing defenses a lot if they know the RB is essentially going to be nothing but a runner or blocker.

I am not sure if that is by design due to pass protection or if Drew just can't seem to throw accurately to the shallows.

Anyhow, I agree with you though, we need to have the dump off pass available to beat the inside pressure however it appears on most passing plays we have the running back staying and helping block instead of just chipping and running a dump off route.

How many times did we see Aikman dump off a pass to Emmit or Moose when there was nothing else?
