Will Zeke cost us the playoffs?

If Zeke gets suspended, which is looking increasingly likely, it may cost us the playoffs. The first few games are easiest on our schedule (NYG, @ WAS, MIA), which is brutal down the stretch. If we drop a couple, it will be very difficult to make the playoffs.

I am so tired of Zeke holding this team hostage with his selfishness and stupidity. The talent is top 2-3 RB in the league. But the best ability is availability. And this could be 2 of last 3 years where he has cost us the playoffs. No way I give him a long term deal until he proves he has 2 spotless offseasons. If he can’t keep out of trouble completely, I give him the Le’Veon treatment.

Out of the first 3, maybe the Commanders game will be a test since they should be healthy again(outside of Smith).

If they lose to Miami without Zeke it's time to start another rebuild.

That being said, if our line is healthy and Pollard/Weber aren't Randle ********, they should be fine if he is suspended.

I don't think it really matters. The modern NFL is all about pushing stories. For example, every MNF broadcast Al keeps repeating the same stories over and over again. He never has new info. He just keeps the stories alive. The stories are free publicity, media clicks, gas for the 24 hour sports news, or the NFL equivalent of world wrestling federation's good guys vs the bad guys. Do you really think he cares about Zeke fooling around with some chickee? All he wants to do is keep selling pink shoes, hats, and jerseys by feeding the progressive political news spin.
 
Here’s hoping that Zeke’s agent and lawyers treat this meeting the same way that Tyreek Hill’s did. Prove his innocence of assaulting the girl (which is the real issue IMO, not bumping the security guard). Have her attend and be available to tell Goodell’s or his reps in person that she initiated the altercation/ or another guy antagonized Zeke and she was just trying to stop Zeke from engaging with him (and contact with her was not motivated by DV).

I hope you’re right. But he does seem to have it out for Zeke and Cowboys in way he does not for other players and teams. Maybe because we’re so high profile and Jerry keeps provoking him.
 
No, he won’t cost us the playoffs but I agree that his stupidity is a liability and he doesn’t seem to learn.

If he does get suspended and it happens to be for the first few games that would be ideal. I’m just waiting for the conspiracy theorists to come out crying about him being suspended against the Giants (if that happens) as if we haven’t played the Giants the first game of the season for how long? And as if when the league made the schedule they knew Zeke would be an idiot once again.

Regardless, as I said, IF he is suspended better sooner than later. Division rival or not, the Giants suck and are in full rebuild and our defense will eat whatever QB the Skins throw out there. I’m not the slightest bit worried about losing to either of those scrubs. Much better than against the Eagles, Pats, NO, etc.

I agree in every one of the positions other than quarterback. Any team should be built to withstand the loss of any other position for a period of time. But quarterback? That's a different thing entirely. You lose your starter there, in most cases, your season is over.

I think it certainly would be with this current Cowboys team.

Fair point. But he’s arguably our best player. And in today’s salary cap depleted rosters, losing your best player can make a significant impact.

Absolute worst case scenario is a 2 game suspension. Ideally you'll have plenty of time to prepare if that is the case. No excuse to allow that to bury your playoff chances.
 
His loss would definitely hurt but I think we have too much talent on both sides of the ball to help compensate for his loss, especially against scrub teams.

No, even if he's suspended he will not cost the team the playoffs. That would be on the shoulders of the coaching staff failing to overcome losing him with plenty of time to prepare.

He is the best skill position player on the offense but not the most critical one.
