Williams really showed up last night. He was a big part of there passing game last night and he didnt seem like the afterthought he seemed like in the past. Could be one the games he shows up for, but something seemed different about him. I think I remember seeing him on a few drags, and I dont of we have done much of that with him in the past.

Butler is that guy.....

He is that guy where one moment you think " ******** it Brice!" and then a few plays later he really comes through. For a 4th WR, those times he comes through are worth a couple headaches because defenses cant ignore him. Thats the thing with big play guys, the are a factor just being on the field

I disagree on butler. He has some decent traits but is just a dumb football player. Don't want him next year we can upgrade.
Butler is what he is. Hurt you one minute, help you the next. Could do better could do worse.

I will agree we can upgrade. I think Switzer takes his slot next year

Butler had an amazing camp! I went to watch in person quite a bit, and he outplayed basically every other WR.

But it just seems like he shrinks a little bit once the bright lights come on.

That catch last night though was amazing. I think we can count on him for 1-2 catches per game, but not much more unfortunately.

Butler is a player who will make a great catch and then drop the easy one's. That was a great catch in the first quarter but we just don't see that enough in the games.

Butler just isn't consistent enough. T. Will looked like a different player last night. I hope he keeps that up.

Butler just needs to make enough plays to net us a late comp pick next year.

Why unfortunately? What is wrong with 1-2 catches per game?

Dallas is a running team. If things go well this season they will be near the bottom of the league in pass attempts. When they do throw the ball Dallas has Dez, Witten and Beasley getting the vast majority of targets. Williams will be targeted as the 3rd WR option(4th option overall). They also will use Elliott more in the passing game this season than last year when he was received the 5th most targets on the team. There just aren't than many chances to get more than 1-2 targets per game for Butler.

How many #4 WRs(#6 receiving options) get more than 1-2 catches per game?

Williams was very key in using his speed especially horizontally. Also give him credit for gutting it out on a sore ankle.

If Butler could eliminate the easy drops, he'd be a good and more liked player among the fan base. He has the physical tools.

We are a run based offense. And we have a lot of targets to divvy out before we get to Butler. Not sure where even a single ounce of hate for him emerges given what he produces on the field vs. his contract.

Go look at the Jets or Bills receiving cores. He'd probably be the 1a or 1b there.

Perspective.

Ones whose #1 receiver can't get more than 1-2 catches

Twill did well last night.
Oddly enough at one point he seemed to be injured and I swear they were saying he was questionable to come back in the second half (this was being said in the first) and I think he came back in after a couple of plays.

Possibly. I doubt there are more than 2 or 3 teams in the league that have that type of production from their #4 WR(#6 option) in that situation. Fortunately, Dallas has a #1 receiver who averages more than 1-2 catches, so they don't have to rely on Butler or any other 6th option to produce more. Anybody Dallas brought in to be the 6th receiving option would have a hard time getting 1-2 catches per game.

Surprised no one mentioned that Butler's diving catch made yesterdays SportsCenter Top 10 list.

I wish we used T-Will on slants more, he's had some big plays often on those. Nearly took one to the house yesterday.

Wonder how his ankle is doing? Looked like he rolled it in the second quarter. I know he came back in, but you never know.

Another thing I really like about TW is his blocking ability on runs and whenever others catch the ball. Go Cowboys
