Admittedly, I am no salary cap guru and am not sure what our status is with respect to it and how it could be done, but is it possible to get all four of these free agent signed? I know on the surface it is a pipe dream but from a financial standpoint could it get done or is the cost going to be to prohibitive along with our rookie pool.

We'd be the Commanders doing something like this.

Well, I think all of them could be valuable to the team. Unlike the skins who were just signing names who were past their prime to big contracts. But my main question was from a fiscal perspective. Would it be possible and still be able to get our rookies signed?

Love how you threw in Clark. Guy can run a pattern and would be a major weapon! Yes he's in his 30's and is his often injured, but when on he's as good as any TE in this league at catching the football.

We get these 4 we will be tough to beat.

We would probably have to restructure a couple of more contracts, but yes, from a pure fiscal standpoint it would be doable.

Realistically, it is most likely going to be Super Mario/Carr or Nicks/Carr.

That's what i was wondering. There was a thread in the News zone that was talking about eight other players who could restructure to free up lot of cap dollars.

Of the above scenarios I would take Mario/Carr and do what I needed to do to draft Decastro.

The most accurate, correct post in the thread on multiple levels.

And I would be 100% happy with either one.

I agree if we get either one of those scenarios I will be jumping for joy! I honestly doubt it happens that way though, oh and for the record give me mario/carr and we can hope we nab decastro in the draft.

I'll lay out what I think the deals would look like with the cap hits.

........................................2012..2013..2014..2015..2016..2017
Williams 6yrs 78mil 30milSB.....6.0.....8.0...13.0...16.0...17.0..18.0 1st 4yrs base salaries of 1.0, 3.0, 8.0 and 11.0 guaranteed.
Nicks 6yrs 51mil 24milSB.........5.0.....6.0....7.0....9.0....11.0..13.0 1st 3yrs guaranteed
Carr 6yrs 60mil 24milSB..........5.0.....7.0....9.0....11.0...13.0..15.0 1st 3yrs guaranteed

I don't believe we'd spend for Clark, but the others are certainly doable. 16mil in 2012 and 21mil in 2013 is tight.

That would be sweet! Beyond sweet!

Then take a CB in the 2nd then a C in the 3rd.

Unless Peter Konz is there in the 2nd.

1. DeCastro
2. Konz/CB
3. Blake/CB

That's kind of how I see it going.

Hey Hos, have you heard what role they'd be looking for Williams to fill? Would he be Spencer's replacement allowing to rescind the tag or would he play 3-4DE?

I'd actually prefer the latter. I like Spencer, especially if we ink him to a more reasonable long term deal.

I have some reservations with Williams at SOLB. I do believe he'd be exactly what we need at 3-4DE.

That would be epic.

I haven't really heard anything on it, but I have speculated it would be as a 3-4 DE since they do want to keep Spencer. The only thing I have heard is our level of interest in him, which is very high.

Well it will be interesting to see what happens, I figure Mario would rather play at OLB , but we might need him at DE. Bruce Smith was able to succeed as a 3-4 DE, here is a good article about it:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/36529/bruce-smith-thoughts-on-texans-3-4

More of Bruce's thoughts from last year, apparently at that time they thought Mario would play DE when we know he didn't. If we do actually keep Spencer, he will have to be a 3-4 DE, but if we let Spencer walk, I still have to wonder which position Mario would play if we got him.

I'll take that.
