Williams vs. Hernandez

Hard to compare the 2, completely different schemes. Hernandez is built for a power run game, William's is in the right system(zone run), just wrong position IMO. Both appear to have huge upside though

He played much better last night. I haven’t watched the game again yet. Seems the plays we were running were to keep him from being a negative impact if pushed around.

And our Defense is real. When Irving and Gregory get in there. Even better.
I disagree. At times Connor was blocking the DT by himself but had great technique and hence the reason he didn't struggle with the bull rush. In the run game Connor is brilliant, not on our all-pro guys level yet. He looked better then Collins last night

So C. Williams played better last night.
W. Hernandez did not look so good.

I know, they are both rookies, a lot to learn.
So what are your thoughts on them so far?
Williams played a good game. Saw a few plays where his mean streak showed. He "finished" a few blocks. He'll improve weekly, imo. I liked what I saw from him last night.

I need to watch the replay too but when you don't notice a rookie OL is a very good thing. Especially going against Snacks Harrison, who is one of the best in the game and plenty of posters here said he would destroy Williams.

Last week we had threads saying Williams shouldn't even be starting, Williams still needs a lot of reps but if he is holding his own in his second start its a very good sign.

The knock on Hernandez, which some people who were gaga over the kid ignored, was his lack of any real pass blocking experience. Some scouts wondered about his ability to handle that.

It's two games so certainly nothing is etched in stone, but he's not been good in pass protection his first two games.

I think they are both going to end up being really good players. Hernandez is going to be the physical anchor down in the run game RG and Williams is going to be the more mobile, more versatile LG who can pull and trap.

Both young rooks still learning the system, let's give them a change to grow and get some exp before saying one is better than the other at this point.

That’s great news. Like I said I haven’t got to rewatch the game yet. Looks like I will be pleasantly surprised. I noticed I wasn’t hearing his name called so that’s a good thing.

We had a few good plays negated by holding calls. We need to get that ironed out but other than that we looked better for sure.

Seems he handled his business. I heard Looney pancaked snacks. I want to rewatch just to see that.

Collins was the one holding. I think he had 2 and can't remember who had the other one. The OL looked much better, didn't give up any sacks. Was some pressure so wasn't completely clean. They attacked the right side mostly. Anytime we ran the flew too the ball but gave up some decent plays by crashing down. Still needs some improvement but much better then week 1

I agree. And it's brilliant because our defence was what let us down the last 2 postseason failures. Defence is what you're SUPPOSED to use to win the big one.

Imagine if we had this Defense in 2016. And when Gregory and Irving are back in the line up then it gets better. If they were playing last night sheli would be in traction today.

Swaim was the other.

The Collins call was far too ticky-tacky for my taste.

You're not wrong. If we had this defence in 2016, I reckon we win the Super Bowl that year. Even better is if this defence came on in 2014 like this. We'd absolutely flatten everyone in our path that year. Either way, that's all water under the bridge now. We have the defence now, and that certainly helps Dak. It takes a LOT of pressure off him as he now just has to drive the lorry.
