Willie Reid? .. And wondering what happened to Travis Wilson

Looking forward to seeing what Willie Reid's got at WR ... he somehow snuck on the roster without much fanfare.

He was the Steelers' 3 pick in 2006 from Fla St., mainly a kick returner (short, only 5-10), but he didn't impress there, got nicked up ... sounds like Pittsburgh's version of Stanback. .. Eagles picked him up last year for their practice squad but he got injured and released ....

Interesting. The Steelers usually don't miss on high picks or any picks really .. maybe he's got some untapped potential though, and fans said so on Steeler boards - that the team might not have given him enough time. Apparently he never could find open lanes as a returner.

OK Travis Wilson. Jerry said (at the time) that we passed on third, fourth round receivers because Travis was as good as any of them. And, he got some first-team snaps at OTAs (granted Austin and Hurd were out) ... until he messed up his knee .. You would think we would keep a guy like this around unless there's something amiss that we don't know about ....

Stephen Jones said Wilson would be waived/injured, which means he'll revert to our injured reserve list if nobody claims him.

Thanks Adam. I guess he's not quite good enough to get picked up on waivers by anybody, esp. this time of year and injured to boot. ... Maybe he can contribute down the line .... Makes me feel better.

Reid's not a terrible return man and he has some speed. However, his biggest problem is the fact that he can't catch a cold in a blizzard.
