Russell Wilson has made a career out of extending plays with his feet and keeping the chains moving on his own. This has been a major advantage for Seattle throughout his time there, however it seems that we have the answer...

Jaylon Smith

He has been outstanding in spying QBs on passing downs and is one of the few LBs in the league that can not only run with Wilson, but track him down and arrive with bad intentions. Every time Wilson takes off, he will have a heat seeking missle ready to make him pay. I wonder if this is something Pete Carroll and the Seattle staff recognize, and how much it can affect what Seattle likes to do offensively. Wilson is not the same player when forced to stay in the pocket.

Well, apparently the Cardinals kept him on his back all game long, meaning the Dak should be able to get pressure consistently. If you do that often, then a big play here and there isn’t going to consistently beat you.

I think the success of their running game put our D on its heels. But it's not like we haven't dealt with Wilson with a stronger running game before (Beastmode in 2014 and 2015), so I think/hope we'll be more ready for it. Especially since LVE has a bigger role in D

Easier said than done. Trying to keep Wilson in pocket while collapsing it. LVE or Lee will be the spy. Secondary will need to cover their man longer than usual.

Wilson is a great player. He will make some unbelievable plays. You just have to limit them. And hopefully keep their team playing from behind, where he may try to force some throws.

I like to see Gregory in that Leo role and have him run around the LT to chase Wilson from behind with Jaylon or LVE covering the area vacated by Gregory so Wilson can't escape that way. Gregory has the agility and speed to loop around can cause havoc from behind.

Outside of Aaron Rodgers no QB has given the Cowboys more trouble in recent years than Russell Wilson. He’s 4-1 against the Cowboys. His ability to extend plays, run and throw down the field makes him very dangerous. He’s going to be a handful on Saturday night. If we can contain him we’ll win if not it will be another one and done.

Yes, and it's mostly because the Dallas DEs are wayyyy to susceptible to being sucked in and not containing the QB. D Law does a pretty good job, the other side almost never does. Crawford, Charlton, Gregory, they ALL need to be coached this week to stay in their lane, and don't let Russell bootleg out. Contain, contain, CONTAIN. I know it's hard, because they want to make the tackle, but that's the LBs jobs, the DEs should just take the QB...and sack him when he keeps it (because he's going to keep it, and that sack for a 10-yard loss should be the drive-stopper).

I agree. For avg Wilson throws for fewer yards than Dak does but Wilson ability to run the ball and make plays down field is what makes him dangerous. Seattle ranks 27th in passing and leads the league in rushing with 160 a game. Seahawks do a good job of lulling a team with the run then take big shots down the field.

Problem with containing russel is that he is as good a pocket passer as he is mobile. It feels like every time I watch him in a game every single deep ball connects

Better for him to throw from the pocket though, with proper containment, than to escape out and have the run/throw option.

To control the deep ball, Heath will have to come up big this game. The outside CBs and safeties need to stifle all deep throws, and force Wilson to dink-and-dunk. The Cowboys are typically pretty good at this, but that also means the LBs have to control the running game with the DTs, so the safeties can stay back.

Which is why I think it is important to control the run game of theirs using the front 7 and not have to commit a safety up. Get Seahawks in unfavorable down and distance and get after Wilson who has been sacked 51 times himself and has fumbled it 10 times. Cowboys need to respect Seahawks ability, but they are also a 10-6 team who recently lost to the 9ers and squeezed out a win over the Cards with a last second FG.

They have a sudden type of offense, vs rhythm. I think if the Cowboys play each snap to tendency and yardage and stays alert, we will stifle them.

Our Run D let us down in the first contest, and we were denied momentum we earned before the horrible Crawford penalty.

Much of the Seahawks mystique evaporates when they leave the Link. I didn't at first, but I feel we have a can to open up. We got punked up there, this is true.

If we get off early, we will cruise to a playoff victory. This Dallas team is a rugged bunch and I think they will set the tone and hammer Zeke and get the W.

Best way to contain RW is the same way we contained DB
Keep him watching on the sidelines
If we convert 3rd downs we can keep pounding Zeke which opens things up for cooper and Gallup. Work Jarwin down the seam and score 7’s not 3’s
When we do really good at 3rd down conversions we win and we will Saturday too

Wilson may not throw for a lot of yards but he throws for a lot of TDs. He only passed for just over 3400 yards this season but had 35 TD passes. When we played them earlier in the season he only passed for 192 yards but had 2 TD passes. He’s the most dangerous when he’s flushed out of the pocket. Gives him the option to run or throw. You have to corral him to contain him. Flush him out of the pocket and he’ll make a play. You see Aaron Rodgers do that all the time. We have to put him on the ground or force him to throw it away or make an errant throw. The longer he can extend a play the more chances a receiver will be free down the field.

I think it takes the whole front seven playing lights out to keep Wilson controlled. He’s really a much more polished and controlled QB than Dak is,particularly moving around the pocket. And the secondary even when good in coverage,Wilson will make those spot on throws. But get him uncomfortable upfront, and change what he likes to usually do like they did to Bree’s,and you could force some bad plays to balance the big ones he’ll make. They got Smith and LVE to chase him to the sidelines, which is the biggest advantage our defense has over other clubs, and the last time they played,it wasn’t the “Smith and LVE” show like it is now. And let’s see how Seattle likes being hit over the middle by Xavier this time too? Sea isn’t the same team, but neither is this defense. I think the best way to beat Sea and Wilson,is by being more Seattle than Seattle is,and just being more physical than they are.

We've got a nice combination of speed and athleticism to get after Wilson. Gregory and Lawrence at DE, Smith and LVE at LB.
