Win or lose Sunday Night- remember this team is developing

NFL is super finicky. I don't worry about developing and all that because things sometimes turn on a dime, and sometimes for no apparent reason. The only thing you can bank each week is a win or loss and I want to bank as many wins as possible, in case we hit a rough patch here somewhere. I've seen too many times that losing one game can lead to losing another.

Hmmm,.. This win or lose ..sounds like a near future, morale of the story consolation prize victory. Lol

As far as development, that’s just goes with the job and the hard hat with the playing on the field.
What is important is durability, effort, consistency and coaching that factors into it as well.
And that’s on both sides of the ball.

- I would think we would like players that is committed (as McClay always says “ loves football, has a passion for it” )
To go along with having Talent … you want him to be able to stay healthy and available, and then you’d want coaches that know how to

- Some such as Lamb, Pollard, Gallup, Wilson, Tyler, Steele, Schultz ..
And then there’s the defense with Parsons, Osa, Diggs, ..and the hopeful returns of Gallimore and Hill.

- Joseph will most likely be special teams and maybe dime packages
I just don’t expect much this rookie year- too far behind. And i expect even less with Wright.

Roy, multiple things can be true at once. We can be a really good team and also be developing. It doesn’t always have to be 100% one or the other.

Obviously, I don’t see this as a cop out but a more balanced view of this team and where it is. Just my opinion, and your different opinion is just as valid as mine!
This team should now have aspirations to go all the way. It’s a true contender.

Absolutely right. A lot of young players here still developing. This team will go as that goes. There are no shortcuts. 1 game at a time, see where the chips fall. Win the division and get in the tournament.. that’s the priority here. The first step before you can reach the second.

Nonsense. Its plain as day this team is one of the best in the NFL and getting healthier and better. Collins back, Gallup, Lawrence, Gallimore, Joseph, ect.....ect.....

NFC east was wrapped up 3 weeks ago. We are playing for home field advantage and a bye at this point. Unless Dak continues to miss games.

There are still young players here that need to turn the corner. They are on their way to being a very good team, but championship caliber is a wait and see. 5-1 is nice.. Just not putting the cart before the horse.

We went from zero expectations to Super Bowl or bust? 11 games left .. 1 at a time and improve in each one. Can't do more than that. Hopefully they're fortunate in the injury department over the next 3 months and they're playing their best football down the stretch.. But a lot needs to happen in that time before they start concerning themselves with homefield.

Zero expectations? Maybe you did. I had this team at 10-13 wins depending on health. Now we add a play making defense to that estimate and were a legitimate contender.

ONLY thing that needs to happen for this team to be playing for home field is health.

There have been some teams in the past that have started out winning then after their bye crash and burn. So naturally, I would like to see Dallas come out of their bye with a win. If it comes down to a 50/50 chance of Dak needing the rest another week Im going with the rest. No need to take a chance with what you have started. Dak needs to play the rest of the season 100%. We should still win with Cooper in and if we don't ok we start our run again after this week.
We have the talent but so does GB, Arz, TB, and LA. We need to be peaking when we get close to the finish line.
As some have stated I want Dallas to win every game.

I know to some this is sacrilege, but our Cowboys are not going to finish 16-1. Even the best teams in the league don’t always perform to the best of their team’s ability every single week. Matchups are different; injuries happen; yada, yada. That’s just the way the NFL is. Maybe we win, Sunday, maybe we don’t.

But win or lose Sunday night, here are some things to keep in mind about this team’s overall narrative:
  • This team is still developing. It’s not a finished product. There are great things about this team and not so great things. But it is still developing.
  • This is a young team- especially on defense. Youth means they are still learning and developing. This team will have some hiccups and mistakes but will continue to develop.
  • There’s a reason no team is crowned in October. We are less than 40% of the way into the season, and with 17 games, a lot of things can happen and change- and will.
  • Adversity will measure this team- not destroy it. All good teams face adversity- it’s what separates the great from the average. Don’t panic when adversity strikes because it will be an opportunity to strengthen the team mentally. I don’t ever want to lose but- Sometimes a loss is a growth opportunity.
A 17 game season is a marathon, not a sprint. We have 60% of the season ahead of us. Win or lose Sunday, this team is a work in progress.
Great post as usual. I expect nothing else from you. I feel with this team still developing that by the time the playoffs come around we'll be ready. People are already thinking about home field advantage and the such but what I'm thinking is if we keep developing then come playoffs it won't matter where we play.

Exactly. I’ve seen some fans acting like if Dak misses this game and we somehow lose, we’re in bad shape for the NFC #1 seed. That’s just silly. This season is not even halfway through.

Reminder to all Cowboys fans- last year, Tampa Bay was 7-5 after 12 games and didn’t even win their division. Yet somehow won the SB.
No one wants to play in Green Bay in Jan.

You are ever the expectation setter, Bob.

We’ll find out if JJ has completely taken a backseat in personal and on field decisions based off of how this team reacts when adversity hits. Stay away JJ…you’re getting old and I want to see another SB run before I’m called home.
