Winner of Tampa/Dallas game will play 49ers who have two extra days of rest

The Cowboys go into San Francisco and return the favor from last year. Then I woke up in a cold sweat. We're going to get curb stomped by the 49ers. And that's if we make it there in the first place.

I'm more of a realist than a fanatic. It would be a great story, I just don't think we're that good. The last time I felt this way was going into the playoffs in 2003. Every playoff game since then I either expected we'd win, or at least have a shot. Not this time. But at least I'll watch, because if the Dolphins can keep that game within 3 points, anything can happen.

the term realist itself tends to have a negative connotation. Nothing magical, just boring. So it's most often used, or even exclusively used under negative circumstances.

League is a joke for having Monday Night Football playoff games

From a competitive fairness angle, it doesn’t make sense. But from the money-making vacuum perspective, that IS the NFL, it makes perfect sense.

Every year there will be at least one Wild Card game (excuse me…Super Wild Card game) loaded with story lines – a sure-fired ratings bonanza. Please welcome to the stage the Dallas Cowboys and Tom Brady. Just wait until the viewership numbers come in for this one.

Playing in a Monday night playoff game is a backhanded compliment. As long as the Cowboys place themselves in the wild card pool, the NFL brass will be tempted to select them as one of the lucky contestants to close out week 1 of the playoffs. It sucks and so does paying taxes but we got used to it.

Not only that, they also have to travel from coast to coast. The 49ers still haven't won a Super Bowl in 28 years.

Yeah we don’t want to get into a comparison between us and the 49ers. They have been to two SBs since our last SB. And they have won 14 playoff games since their last SB compared to our 4. And they have won the same number of SBs with 5 and have won 36 playoff games in their history compared to our 35.

We'd be playing Monday night regardless of the seeding. Of course the #1 gets the bye, but otherwise we're on Monday night.

the last 27 years allows us to remain skeptical yet a bit hopeful. Ive already relegated the idea of a loss. That way the blow wont be as hard.

No one is making excuses. But if you think having 7 days to rest vs. 5 isn't an advantage, I guess you've never had to recover from a the type of beating these guys take every game. There's obviously nothing we can do about it so just get out there and win, but it's disingenuous to pretend there's no advantage to having more rest and prep time in the NFL. You can argue they earned the rest and that's a valid point, but to claim there's no advantage is just wrong.
