Umm no. It's taxing income. No different from somebody getting a bonus at work. Missy Franklin and Micheal Phelps benefit from police, roads, and public education just like anybody else.

Just like the 49% who don't pay income taxes.

right, people who live below the poverty line have it so well. Hey if you don't want to pay taxes you can alway move to some country with no government, like Afghanistan.

They are getting paid by the USOC, so they are most likely being rewarded the prize in the USA, not from the Olympics in London, but the USOC will reward them for that medal.

That is my guess.
