Woooahh there hold up a second. What's with these facts trying to paint the Cowboys as some sort of succesful franchise in recent seasons?

Only 2 of 31 other teams have had more winning seasons than the Cowboys in the last 8 years?

Cowboys suck because of Jones' ownership/management. I know this because I read it here. So go stick your inconvienent facts in your ear.

Really? You'd feel better if we had only one winning season to go with that playoff win? Would that symetry better suit you?

Don't get smart.

You know exactly what I meant.

Wow. This actually really surprises me. So glad you posted this-- I honestly would have never guessed that we are tied with the Eagles, Ravens, Chargers and Steelers in this category.

I tried to point out this offseason that since Parcells, and at least since Romo, we have been an above average team.

Not all world. But above average.

People said I was stupid. We are losers. Because 14 years is the period we should evaluate, throw in Chan, Campo, all those years and all those irrelevant players.

Sure we need and want more playoff success. But we are still above average, not rebuilding. And shut up with the one playoff win in the past 14 years. It was 2 years ago

Same here. Said it 1000 times -- since 2003 we've been a good, winning franchise. Two losing years in eight years is pretty unusual in the parity of today's NFL.

People always bring up "1-7!" as if we had that record for every 8-game period over the last five or six years, when the truth is that was a serious outlier.

I think you and others are right when you point out that we have a good franchise as NFL franchises go. And I do think that that gets lost on us.

However, I also think that we got used to being the cream of the crop, so to speak, and we haven't sniffed real playoff success in forever. The result is that we feel a lot more mediocre than we do a winner.

That is the price of playing in a tough division. How many times have we had a winning record and missed the post-season by a game? If I had to guess, I'd say quite a few over the years.

Both times we missed the post-season with a winning record in 05 and 08 the division sent two teams into the playoffs. Over the last decade it would surprise me if any division had as many teams that made post-season appearances as the East (18).

We beat each other up constantly, so if you make it to the playoffs you know that you deserve it here. There are not many gimme games in the division.

I live in Deadskins territory. I am so grateful that nearly every December, we are at least relevant and in playoff discussion.

The poor Commanders fans usually have completely given up hope and have only the Draft to look forward to before it's even Thanksgiving.

The Steelers have 2 SBs, 3 AFCCs, 10 more wins, and are 10-3 in the playoffs. The Colts and Pats averaged 12+ wins, and have SBs and numerous playoff wins.

The Cowboys have averaged 9 wins over that period, and have one playoff win. It's kind of silly to compare the Cowboys to those organizations. The Cowboys have been a little above average in that time, but there really isn't much to hang your hat on. The playoff record is a testament of that.

Yeah, but now you've got a friend request from Risen Star on Facebook.

Did he just join the DCU high five club?
