I posted a lot about 3 weeks ago about how Marinelli might run too many stunts.

My contention was that running stunts does not give DL a chance to win off the snaps by shooting gaps. The stunts were working except they usually worked about 1 seconds after the QB had thrown the ball. The stunts also caused them to get gashed by the run on occasion because it takes them out of the best position to defend the run.

Against the Giants they ran less stunts than in most or possibly all games this season. When they did run them they were more the the quick type stunts and less of the long loop around type stunts that take too long.

They also ran less stunts in the Vikings game than they have in most games this season.

It seemed to help because they were getting better pressure in the Giants game than in many games this season. It's normally hard to pressure Eli because he does not hold the ball long.

It's not all about less stunts as they did blitz a fair amount also, but I really think running less stunts was beneficial.

the giants and vikings have 2 of the worst offenses in the league.

Just as importantly they have 2 of the worst Olines in the league as well. That's been the main reason for the recent pressure we've been getting.

Having said that, I have a lot of hope for the pass rush going forward with the improvement of Collins and the looming return of Gregory. This would let Crawford kick inside on passing downs. As long as we can manage Lawrence's back then I can see a front 4 of Lawrence-Collins-Crawford (Irving)-Gregory.

I think if we can get pressure on Winston, he will be pressured into some picks. Contain him, do not let him get outside and run.
Of course this is said every game, pressure them into mistakes. The D will need to step up again.
