Have you heard this story?

Apparently, there is a website, not sure exactly what it is...but their goal is to get everyone to vote for sanjaya to see if they can get the worst singer to win. Howard Stern has also joined the fray...along with several radio stations nation wide. Something like worst2first.com or something.
I hate crap like that.

It's been on my mind because I've been listening to Jerry Lee Lewis' recent collection of duets, Last Man Standing... the Killer does a duet with Kris on this one, and at the end, the last thing you hear on the CD is him reciting that line, like a poem..

Well, considering the name of the song is "The Poet", kind of seems fitting, dun't ya thunk, Luuucy!? ;)

"Sunday Morning Coming Down" is not only a fantastic song, there is an amazing story behind it. Kris wrote it for Johnny Cash and Johnny was going to sing it for the very first time on "The Johnny Cash Show." The song has a line, "I'm wishing Lord that I was stoned." The Producers at CBS were opposed to that line being in the song and insisted that Johnny remove it with something tamer.

When Johnny sings that song as he gets to that line he looked into the upper deck at Kris, and sang it as written.

The show was canceled.

Better story is how KK "delivered" the song to Cash and convinced him to record it.

Mistakes are only horses in disguise. Ain’t no need to ride 'em over 'cause we could not ride them different if we tried.

She gathered her clothes
And ran through the yard in the dark
Up onto the porch like a flash, and inside
Then one room at a time
I watched every light in our house come on
Like the truth that would eventually dawn,
Forcing me to decide

Well, I was shooting for just one line......but since several have taken to verses instead.....

I've done my best to live the right way
I get up every morning and go to work each day
But your eyes go blind and your blood runs cold
Sometimes I feel so weak I just want to explode
Explode and tear this whole town apart
Take a knife and cut this pain from my heart
Find somebody itching for something to start

I haven't heard that story and would like to.

One day I feel
I'm ahead of the wheel
and the next it's rolling over me...

Yeah, I heard that, and it cracked me up... nothing requires less justification than an organized conspiracy to p*ss off Simon Cowell... :D

Well, if we're doing entire verses:

You done stomped on my heart
And you mashed that sucker flat
You just sorta
Tromped on my aorta...

Anybody who can make "aorta" rhyme is a wordsmith, LOL...

Well, seems he was living in Nashville, and wanted to meet Cash and pitch him the song, but couldn't get a meeting. So seeing as he was an ex-army chopper pilot, he simply rented a chopper and landed it on Cash's yard at his lakehouse, just outside of Nashville.
