Wish we had a tougher preseason

I know the Seahawks aren't a bad team by any stretch, but between them having injury issues (plus being the first preseason game) and having three fairly easy teams on our schedule, I'm concerned about this preseason schedule. I wish we had a team like the Pats, Panthers, Steelers, or someone like that to get an idea of how good our team really is. The only thing I'm learning here is that we're walking all over weak teams, which is what we should be doing anyhow.

Minnesota will be a little tougher test... there widely held as a contender in their division. That division isn't good, but they're a middle of the road team.

That's exactly what I thought.

The 49ers and the Saints aren't exactly really good measuring sticks for our team.

I would've liked the Commanders P-Season schedule.

Bengals and Patriots, I would've loved to see us play them.

Yeah, but neither team will leave the starters in for very long. Don't want to get anyone hurt with little time before the season opener.

I agree 100%. I was actually thinking the exact same thing before I saw this thread. It would have been interesting to see how we would perform against a team like the Pats or panthers. My biggest fear about our performance is that the teams we played were that bad versus the Boys being that good. I am sure the truth falls somewhere in the middle.

How can having a tuff preseason help the team. The best teams always progress during the season, they don't peak in the preseason. They will have to go through adversity during the season and get better. The season is a marathon not a sprint. It doesn't matter where you start, but how you finish.

That is why teams gameplan for every team on their schdule not one gameplan for the season.

I'll take it. For a couple of reasons.

One, winning is good practice.

Two, if we were playing a tougher schedule right now in the preseason, and losing these games...well, you know who would be getting the blame. No matter how good an excuse this whole T.O. mess would be, it's always good not to need an excuse.

I may be wrong, but isn't there a rule that prohibits teams in the same division to play each other in the preseason?

OK, I watched the Bucs/Jags game last night. Believe me, you don't want your QB taking shots like that in preseason. They were playing like regular season in the first half. Jags offense stayed till the 3rd quarter to look good against the second string before retiring. I am happy w/ our preseason. We took out teams that want to look good in preseason to boost the ego of their teams. We don't need our QB to take shots frequently during the off season.

I'm still concerned about our kickers. After last year, I still haven't seen anything yet in preseason to make me feel any better.

I did. Our misses are now coming from 35 instead of 25 yards. That is improvement.

Well at least Suisham can hit the crossbar at 34 yards. So you may be right on that one.:laugh1:

He was saying that he wished we had played the schedule the Skins played. Not play against the Skins.

Preseason has more to do with individual evaluation than it does gauging how good your team is.

For instance...the competition level against WR J Rector was irrelivent, as he showed he had some great receiver skills regardless of who was trying to cover him.

Also, the level of competition was an after thought as it didn't matter how good the team was who nailed Romo with that sack. The important part was to see him come back on the very next play and throw for a long first down.

Evaluation, yes, level of competion...not so much.
