It's not Merriman's opponents, it's HOW he gets his sacks. Other players flush the quarterback, Merriman gets the sack. The quarterback scrambles right to him, Merriman gets the sack while lying on his back. The quarterback gets tripped by his center, falls on the ground, and Merriman gets the sack while still being blocked. He's the king of cheap sacks. I wouldn't care if he was facing Rob Petitti and Torrin Tucker on every play, as long as he beat his man all by himself to get his sacks. But that doesn't happen very often.

Which is where I think that the lack of Ware putting up huge numbers last year was the scheme. He wasnt moved around like Merriman is and is forced to play in coverage (not his strong suit) instead of putting his hand on the ground in obvious passing plays. If he doesnt eclipse 10 sacks this year or next, I will be disappointed in Zimmer.

The obsession over here is ridiculous. Be happy with Ware. They are different players.

Both are good.

Merriman gets more hype, because, well he has made more big plays. Ware does his job well.

I dont understand why people can't just accept that both are good players.

At the end of the day, 12 sacks, 15 sacks, whatever, is still what it is. I don't know that a person can say for certain that one in a better pass rushed over the other. A Cowboy may prefer Ware (I am partial to DeMarcus myself), but others would not be out of line by taking Merriman and they would certainly have a case.

Both are going to be impact pass rushers. But I will not dismiss what SM has done to date because, quite frankly, he's doing some really good things for the Bolts.
