I believe it enough that I am picking them up as my D/ST for my fantasy-football team next week against the Giants. Data and logic says "Don't do that yet". I tell logic to kiss a fat man's ***. I want to see the Defense turn Eli into a squeaker toy back there. Pain. Embarrassment. Shame. Nothing but the best for Mara's boys.

CHAMPIONSHIP!

Did we get some new players in the secondary, like safeties that can actually tackle?

im not overly excited, when one piece is working another fails. When once part of the team works, another part falls apart. Than if by miracle, the team decides to shoot itself in the boot, arm and kneecap.

I think the pass rush is going to be top 5.

Unfortunately, I don't think the secondary will ever be top 16, even with the added pass rush.

Gotta think Marineli is hammering home that his D needs to create turnovers and give the offense several short fields to easy scores..........pressure equals turnovers, Patriots offset pressure with pick plays.......will Giants copy?

It probably won't work but I'd to see this formation:

Lawrence - Hardy - Crawford - Mincey
Lee - McClain - Gregory

w/ Gregory blitzing or playing the run. may be risky but just the chance to have them all on the field at the same time would be fun to see

I was shrinking similar. Lawrence hardy Crawford and Gregory
Then lee McClain and hitchens. I don't Gregory at LB, and hardy is as big as watt and can be a force incident..... Best players on the field.

Yes, the potential is exciting.

The primary concern is that Eli rarely holds the ball for more than 2 seconds (The average is over 3 seconds). That might limit the pass rush. The good thing about it is that the Giants limit themselves because defenders only have to cover their receivers for 2 seconds.

I'm curious to see if the Cowboys will use the 3 man line that worked really well in the 1st half of the Pats game. It seems to be designed to combat the short, quick routes by putting an extra LB into coverage at times.

It's the 6 DBs sitting in zones that caused Brady to hold the ball. The 2 LBs were practically on the LOS, either rushing or dropping back into a zone. Although Pats adjusted by setting picks on the DBs. Cowboys need to adjust to that adjustment by not having the corners in man to man all the time. Mix it up.

We need to sprinkle in bump coverage a lot more.

1. Our foreseeable pass rush is going to force offenses to throw more quick outs.

2. Our corners, Carr and Claiborne are actually bump corners.

Yes, there are ways to combat the picks; however, when they tried have the CBs on the same side switch-off in past years based on the routes, Claiborne always made the wrong decision. Scandrick and Claiborne would end up covering the same receiver and the other one would go uncovered. Scandrick could then be seen screaming at Claiborne and telling him what he should have done.

I think they had tried to keep things as simple as possible for Claiborne this season. I think simplicity is the reason that he is playing better; although, he is not really playing great. I reviewed the defense against the Saints in detail and Claiborne was probably the biggest contributor to the failures of the defense that day.

Nevertheless, they still need to try something to combat the pick plays. A 2 man zone is one option. Another option is tighter press coverage which makes it more difficult for the receiver setting the pick to get between the DB and the other receiver. The downside is that if the DB does get picked off, then he won't be there to make the tackle when his man catches the ball.

Until they replace dumb and dumber at safety, it will be for naught. These two are seldom in position, can't tackle and take terrible angles. So for all the good work going on in the front end, the back end will eventually screw it up.

They are playing press coverage at times. Claiborne has been called for hands to the face twice while attempting to press receivers.

Hardy make a statement to a reporter right after he signed with the Cowboys that Eli makes a funny noise when he gets sacked. I think he implied that he sounds like a goose or duck.

The rubber chicken thing was actually Mincey. But it was pretty funny.

All the pass rushers in the world can't make up for those clowns.

The Cowboys are deep at corner. They lack a dominant cover guy, but have five who can play. The safeties have been the primary culprits in coverage breakdowns. The problem is easily rectifable if the Cowboys run formations that are more corner than safety dependent. In their nickel and dime packages, they could get by with just one true safety on the field.

I told my friends that with Romo and Dez we would have beat the Patriots....and I meant it.....and I still believe it.

We would have. Keeping their offense off the field would not have allowed them to score 30 points.
