we are probably looking at restructuring LA or letting him go.
IF NOT, then Kosier is probably designated as the ultimate utility backup. Gurode and Johnson fight it out at center in TC.
I would guess that we are looking at getting Fabini or someone to battle Columbo and Pettiti at RT.
So we are PROBABLY looking at one more signing for the O line.
Draft- I will bet we NOW are looking at a guard if LA is let go; to groom as the replacement for Rivera in a year or two. If LA is kept- then maybe none.

Kozier's signing is strange. That is a lot of money to pay a backup, particularly since it also appears we interested in Neal an OG from NE. Or can Kozier play RT? What's all this say about Peterman, supposedly Allen's backup?

Kosier can play 4 positions on the line- the ultimate utility backup. That is actually pretty valuable. With keeping Johnson and Gurode, right now we could have to activate only 7 Olinemen a game- allowing us to activate more LB's and DL's.

I think he can play RT for a limited time but I think he's probably a better guard.

You really think we pounced on and signed Kosier to be a mere backup?

Its not that much money for someone that can cover 4 separate positions.
If you think about it that way, it makes sense. BP wanted to play more LB's and DL's last season but could not since he had to keep activating 9 O linemen.

Hey if he can play 4 positions I am all for it. Our backups sucked last year. Imagine if this guy could have played LOT when Flo went down.

Makes sense to me.

Hey, can that guy Steve Weatherford from Illinois kick and punt?

Just think...

not sure his contract is a big as reported. remember 5 yrs 15 mil does'nt really mean much if most is not in bonus. i read 5 mil bonus, over 5 yrs thats 1 mil a year in bonus, the rest salary which he may never get

I'm still looking for a RT -- Fabs left here without a deal -- that means we didn't want to give him big money -- he'll come back and sign if there isn't something better out there though. Runyan and Ashworth are still out there too.

I don't understand why you guys think Kozier is going to be a backup....he's going to be our starting LG because we are finally cutting LA before his bonus is due...it's time to say goodbye and go with the 27 year old....Kozier has started 43 games in 4 years...last year he was the LG for Detroit.

He wasn't signed as a backup....

Two backup Oline depth guys. I expected a better day 1. But you do need 53 guys -

I wonder if the Cowboys are thinking rather high of Kosier and let Fabini leave without a contract.

:hammer: Dead on Wayne.

You guys are not thinking out of the box- like I said- this could very well be worth it to BP so that he can dress fewer O linemen and more D linemen and LB's.

I don't know -- I think that Kosier looks like a guard to me. By all accounts his play at tackle hasn't been so hot.

From what I have read, I agree with you.

But I just wonder if that's the plan.

See, I had also thought that Kosier might be the new tackle. ESPN's article said that Dallas had told Kosier that he would be a guard though. Now, ESPN might be wrong. But if they aren't, I think Larry is gone...

After the last two weeks, I truly will never believe another word ESPN has to say unless confimed by a reputable source. They are no longer one.

For months I've told anyone who'd listen who the weak link on the OL was. I was ridiculed but I simply responded with a wait and see approach. Now the first FA signing is a player who was a LG last year. Hmmmm.
