As many stated, it is going to be extremely difficult to move back this year. The top of the draft is very shallow, where many teams might have only have low teen 1st rd grades. Teams might take less to bail out as the value from say 15-45 is very close. Add in the fact that the Cowboys foolishly traded a high 4th pick away from a WR that was buried in the depth chart on a lousy team, makes matters worse.

They could of fill some of these needs in fa, but decided once again to sign low cost veteran depth type of players, this has created holes at:

RB, WR, G, DE, DT, LB, Nickel CB.

They will claim if they had a game tomorrow, they would have a roster ready to compete. This is complete garbage.

We can discuss the priority order of needs, but several will be left out and still have huge holes within our roster.

Everything I'm reading points to WR if they stay at 12. TE is starting to also show a bit, but it seems like the offense is getting the nod at 12.

New Offensive HC and spent most of the fa dollars on defense points to high offensive picks this yr. As for WR, big drop-off after the top 4 prospects, almost have to take one in rd 1 or determine if the next group is an upgrade of what they already have.

My preference would be WR, DT and RB if that draft falls that way.

But like you said needs everywhere so will
be happy as long as we don’t reach.

I really believe their first pick is going to be Golden unless someone else takes him first. But who knows, they could be giving us a little misdirection.

I don't think they will take RB or DT in the first round.

I almost wish they had 2 2nds, 2 3rds, and a 4th in this draft.

I agree 100%.........not much upgrade from what we have after the top 4.

cheap one year contracts is not spending serious resources on D.

I think it's Golden or CB ( Johnson ) but TE could be a ( if Warren falls ) could be a sneaky pick.

I think they will be somewhat active in FA/trade market post draft. If they punt on WR or CB in the top 100, I see them adding a vet. Going with Elam and Carson as your #2 and #3 for a prolonged period of time would be a disaster. Even if they draft a CB high, I can still see them adding a vet. Same with WR, although I dont think it would be as dire if you use #12 and hit on the pick

Fa very well still could be in play, especially with those comp picks not in play. There are some players who could still help fill out the roster or add veterans stop gaps so our prospects don't have to be thrown into the fire right away.

You mentioned Will Hernandez, Cooper/Lockett, Hankins types are all still out there.

So you said

RB, WR, G, DE, DT, LB, Nickel CB

WR will be Rd 1
RB will be Rd 2 or 3
LB will be Rd 2 or 3. They also acquired Sanborn and Murray so may not be a huge need

They have Smith, Hoffman, Jones, Charles at Guard.

They have Micah, Kneeland, William’s, Turner at DE.

They likely go DT late since they have Mazi

Nickel CB is likely Bland or Elam.

What people perceive as holes aren’t holes on roster for Jerry and Stephen.

We see it as a 10- 7 roster but every acquisition has experience in the league

The Cowboys will find a trade down partner. Some team will want to get an offensive lineman or defensive player. The Cowboys need 4 draft picks in the first 3 rounds. The Cowboys can get one of the big four receivers in late first round.

That’s why you trade down.

I want us to trade down but you got to have a partner to to that and as weak as the top of the first is this year, I am doubtful that happens
The real meat of this draft is second rd and early third rd

We just don't have enough talent to compete, and can't get it on the roster by September. The 2025 season is pretty much a writeoff. I don't think Dallas is going to bottom out, but going sub-.500 looks pretty likely.

I think this is a 2 year rebuild at least. Positions of need don't matter, we're not going anywhere this season regardless of who we draft. Just add talent. Then we'll draft more talent in '26, hopefully sign some talent for once in this franchise's miserable existence, and see where we go from there.
