With our defense, why not us?

We have an offense that can win us a game by themselves if hot. We have a defense that can win and or keep us in games if the offense struggles. How many teams can say that?

My point is if either unit fails the other is more than capable of picking them up. Unless both units fail were never out of a game.

I see a lot of threads about other teams. But because of our balance we are a tough out. If we can play semi mistake free football we can beat anyone.

If our offense is 75% efficient ( dont get into 3&long and 3 and outs) and defense plays decent ( meaning don't let running all over , don't get beat deep and get off in 3rd and long situations ) , we will most games.

Do t forget our ST’s are awesome outside of the Leg….

angerer is one of the best off-season moves we made (free agency wise). So nice to have a guy that can pin the other team deep if need be. Of kick us out of our own territory and still flip field position for our d

The defense IS good enough.
The team's overall health IS better than just about every other playoff team.

The defense and injury excuses blame have been played out. Injuries and defense is ALL you heard about for last year's lack of success.

What's it gonna be this year.

Seems the goalposts have shifted towards Moore recently.

This opportunity ain't gonna be the same even next year for all those who think it is so THIS year is another golden opportunity to accomplish something in the post season.

What another waste if they don't take advantage of it again.

I read somewhere here that Respect is earned in the playoffs. That's where I'm at and bout all I got.

Our record vs current playoff teams in 2021: 3-4: 2 wins against the Iggles, the other against the Pats
Our record vs non playoff teams in 2021: 9-1. This is the most glaring stat of the year
Losses: Zona, Brady, Patty, Carr

I for one will be on edge all game having zero idea which team will show up. Unfortunately, as you see above we are only good at beating bad teams, and really struggle against anybody half descent. No reason to be optimistic, just have to hope we play like we can

This is true we can be a tough out but we have to get out to some type of a lead and be able to run the ball this plays to our strength where we can rush their quarterback apply pressure and create turnovers.
Slow starts riddled with penalties and three and outs leave our defense vulnerable to be gashed by the run.

Key is start fast play to our strength which is our pass rush and above all don't have to depend on a moderate length field goal to win the game in the end

It can be us. Just depends on which Cowboys team decides to show up on game day x 4.

My concern is the oline. If we don't make a run at it they will be the primary unit to let us down.

We know they are capable. I just hope they have enough gas left in the tank. I'd wager we will be reloading with fresh blood this off season.

It's a one year deal, hopefully they bring him back.

I like the one year deals, but we had a couple this year I wish we'd have locked up longer.

San Francisco gets the drop by game planning on weaknesses...to the inth degree, and that opens up this:

  • Say What: Saw this analysis of Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs in the San Jose Mercury News: "Maybe [San Francisco head coach Kyle] Shanahan will move his (offensive) attention outside and try to give Dallas cornerback Trevon Diggs something to think about. The second-year Alabama player led the NFL in interceptions this past season with 11." (OK, timeout: Not just 11 interceptions but the most by any NFL player since Cowboys should-be Hall of Fame cornerback Everson Walls had 11 in his rookie year of 1981, 40 darn years ago. OK, continue.) "But when (Diggs) didn't make the interception, he was a downright bad corner." (Hold it: My second timeout. Diggs also led the Cowboys with 21 pass breakups. OK, continue.) "Diggs is worthless against the run – the Niners always want to run it outside the numbers, but in this game, they'll be even more eager." (Timeout, my third: Diggs finished just his second NFL season with 56 tackles, seventh on the team. Continue.) "He'll also give up what he takes away – though I'm not sure he wins that battle. Turnovers are the lifeblood of wins in football, but Diggs' risk-reward style is something I could imagine the Niners offense targeting with their excellent receivers. I think it could be a winning strategy." I agree, think the Niners should try him, early and often. See Washington's first offensive play that second time round this year.

Go Diggs, and stick with the Dallas plan!

Short field turn arounds or scores are worth the directional changes. Be a Cowboy, Diggs...and get it done now!

Go Cowboys!:starspin:

Yes, why not?

Understand this:

Nobody has seen the Dallas Cowboys defense play. I'm talking about the real defense.

Almost all year long we saw a Cowboys defensive line composed of backups. There were even a few times when the D-line was composed entirely of rookies, Parson, Osa, Bonhamma, and Golston

Prior to the start of the season, the projected starters were T-Law, Hill, Gallimore, and Gregory.

Out of 68 possible starts for these four D-linemen, there has been a combined 22 starts. That's not even a 3rd of the total starts at those positions.

Both Osa and Watkins were supposed to be backups. The other D-lineman projected to have significant snaps was Urban who is on IR after 4 starts. Basham, a 3rd stringer behind D-Law and Armstrong and Armstrong, had 5 and 6 starts respectively.

The projected starters have played together now for three games total. That's it. They have played together now for the length of a preseason schedule.. They are just now becoming familiar with each other. Their performance should begin to peak somewhere around.......now.

So now we have the original D-line starters backed up by the guys who started most of the season. That's a dominant rotation that has yet to be unleashed until Sunday.

Consider the linebackers. We finally have some. LVE is becoming downright respectable, Neal is one of the three LB's in the top 5 in tackles this season. Gifford is healthy, and the Cowboys can now afford to put the DROY, Parsons, in as a LB, though not all the time.

Do you remember when the thinnest squad when it came to talent was the safeties? Today, the Cowboys have real depth at the position. Three of the top ten tacklers on the team are safeties, Kearse, Kazee, and Hooker. They have a combined 5 INT's. And don't forget Donavan Wilson.

And the CB's? Please! the Three starters, Diggs, Jourdan and Brown, have combined for 17 INT's. In the past 15 years the entire team had 17 or more INT's only twice. In the previous six seasons, the entire Cowboys defense never recorded more than 10 INT's!.....and these three players combined for 17.

This season, 11 teams had two players with defensive TD's including the 49ers.. Two teams had three defenders with TD's. One team had four defenders with TD's. Miami was very impressive with 6 defenders scoring TD's. However, the Cowboys had the most defenders, this season, with TD's. They had seven. defensive players with at least one TD.

The only way our defense will win us a game in the playoffs if our offense struggles is if they get multiple takeaways. Although our defense has improved this season it still has blemishes that have been covered up by all the takeaways we’ve gotten.
