I think the reason for Jimmy's original success with the Cowboys was because he knew all the college players that came into the league during his first few years since he had recruited them or tried to and also competed against them in clooege and at draft time he put that knowledge to work. When he got to the Dolphins, he didn't know the new college guys and his guesses weren't any better than anyone else's.

I agree the OL is suspect but I think the 2TE offense will do OK. I agree that BP's play-calling sucks and he's made his share of lousy decisions here, but he is infinitely better than Jethro. My worst long term fear is that BP will have success and Jethro will think it was all due to his own brilliance and that now he is really ready to resume making all the decisions after BP leaves and he will run this team into the ground again, just like he did the team Jimmy built.

You and me both Bob. The minute they announce Zimmer the next HC, I will wilt. Not that I dislike Zimmer, just the control JJ would have over things.:bang2:

Parcells has shown over his tenure as Cowboys coach that he must be in total control of everything; from personnel decisions, to Offense and Defense
systems, coaching staff, etc., etc. This has been the case up til now.

Now, he is showing his ineptness in dealing with prima donna players, injured players and JJ's favorite players. The situation with TO is totally out of (his) control and there is more trouble brewing with Vanderjagt and, also, his constant chatter about having inexperienced receivers (no fault but his own).

If TO were anyone else, Parcells would have waived him and the Cowboys would have made an injury settlement. I think JJ has stepped in, behind the scenes, and told Parcells that TO is staying (his presence sells tickets, jerseys, gains national TV and Press attention and so on). I bet it's pretty much the same with Vanderjagt who has a terrific resume. Parcells
is having a hard time dealing with this.

It comes down to this that Parcells should be fired (not likely) or retire by the end of the season. He wants it all, but simply cannot deliver it all!

Let's see.

Parcells ... helps build one franchise which wins two Super Bowls (Giants) Check.
helps build another franchise that goes to a Super Bowl (Patriots). Check.
helps build another franchise that makes it to the AFC Championship (Jets). Check.
helps an undertalented franchise make it to the playoffs in his first year (Dallas). Check.

So the man wants total control?

First, he doesn't have total control as long as Jerry Jones is the owner.

Second, even if he does, so what? He's earned it.

Third, I'm glad Jimmy Johnson just told it like it is. There is no such thing as FAIRNESS, at least not absolute fairness.

Everyone, and I repeat, EVERYONE is subjective in how they apply fairness. That's who and how we are as humans. You wouldn't treat your children the same as you would treat someone else's child with respect to discipline, love, disapproval, etc.

Star players will ALWAYS receive better treatment than scrub players.

I wish we would stop getting so put out by that simple reality.

TO is a star player. He will be given the benefit of the doubt in a way Miles Austin will not.

Look at the young players Parcels sent packing, Antonio Byrant, Henson, Ross, Hunter, Could he not develop them....? Like Parcels has so called developed ROMO, Bill Parcels came into Dallas clean out all of JJ players and replaced them with Friends of Bills.

So first you complain about spending money then you deride him for cutting $14M in cap space to two aging players.

In Ross and Hunter's case, apparently not. They are out of football. Bryant just got kicked out of another city this year. Henson the jury is out on, but Parcells track record on cuts so far is pretty darn good.

Takes two to develop a player. The Coach, and the player himself. Those other guys may have had some talent, but they had other problems that hindered their ability to be NFL caliber players (Bryant excluded I suppose).

Amazing how you cut Parcells for developing a bunch of head cases yet ignore the extremely good record Bill has in the late rounds of the draft and UFAs.

I think this team heading to the right direction and to greatness,however what worries me the most that we keep our aging hurt stars ( TO and Vandy) and let go of good new players just becouse they have no experiance .
I am in favor of cutting TO and Vandy if they are not healthy..let's face it we will be great team but i dought we will win it all this year TO or no TO ,so let's give our new players chance.

You obviously have NEVER followed Parcells career very much if you think he has trouble dealing with Prima Donna players. Do the names Lawrence Taylor, and Brian Cox ring a bell?

Heck, Parcells went as far as to go get Brian Cox to join him in New England when noone else wanted anything to do with him, because he was such a Prima Donna. Heck, Brian Cox the Terrell Owens of his time, until Bill Parcells found him.

Or Keyshawn. No fan will agree with everything a head coach does, but my gosh, do you guys really want a Mr Nice Guy coach who *doesnt* want total control of his team? We had that ever since Jimmy Johnson left. Control freaks are usually your most successful (read: Wins and Super Bowls) coaches in the NFL. Bill Belichick, Bill Cowher, those guys are control freaks as well. The idea of cutting Vanderjagt and TO because theyre injured (or faking injury) is ridiculous. These are 10 year vets youre talking about, not rookies or 2nd year guys. Should Cowher cut HInes Ward? Should Belichick just up and cut Branch cuz he wont practice, even though he's under contract (and i wouldnt be surprised if youd want him on this team). Come on man, be realistic

And Bryant was subsequently let go by Cleveland, a team not exactly filled with pro bowl WRs. He's now the #1 on maybe the least talented team in the NFL. Not exactly something to brag about. Let's see how fast someone snatches up Henson. Hunter? Is he still in the league? Ross? LOL.

I suggest you go back to 2002 real quick, and have a look at the roster at that point. Let me know how many guys on that roster are: A.) Still in the NFL, and B) if they ARE still in the NFL, are they even regular players?

Holy hell man... They AREN'T GOING TO GET CUT over a strained hamstring and a tweaked groin. These guys are two of the greatest players at their positions in the NFL today. You don't go out and make a big splash signing both of them, then cut them over some tweaked leg muscles. They were brought in to make a run at the Super Bowl; let's just throw all that away before we take the field for a regular season game.

From all indications I've gotten these guys are both going to be ready to play the season opener. And we're going to cut them because they have missed a few preseason games?? Then throw in young players who are inexperienced who WE KNOW won't get us a Super Bowl. Get a clue.
