With preseason over, which rookie pass rusher do you think the Cowboys should have drafted?

I don’t know if you heard the hype at the beginning of preseason, but rookie pass rusher T.J. Watt had himself a nice NFL debut.

Of course that sent the hindsight GM’s into a frenzy and fueled those who were hard selling the idea of the Cowboys selecting Watt with their first round pick. Dallas had a plan in this year’s draft and that plan included taking advantage of the talent pool of pass rushers early in the draft and capitalizing on the deep cornerback pool on day two. Things worked nicely for them as they were able to do both things, landing a good up-and-coming defensive end in Taco Charlton and two good corners in Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis.

Premature Evaluation.

Most people thought Roy Williams was better than Ed Reed for the first couple of years.

Most people thought Roy Williams was better than Ed Reed for the first couple of years.

He was the first few years actually then fell apart without Woodson. RW was a huge impact player as a rookie with 5 INTs, forced fumbles, sacks, huge hits, big plays. He was robbed of DROY losing to Peppers who didn't play four games that season.
I know your point, obviously Reed was a HOFer for the long term and would've been a much better pick but first few years..the RW pick was looking great. Never seen a player fall off a cliff like that. So we can hope that Taco can turn the corner and be great for a long time.
So we will have to withhold judgement in the age of snap judgements, fantasy stats, and constant nitpicking. Ha!

They should have drafted the boy they drafted. Everybody wants Lawrence Taylor after 2 games. Wait awhile.
