Jihaad Campbell LBer.........Eberflus loves Lbers and LVE proved Jerry isn't afraid of drafting one with a 1st rounder. Couple things;
** Unless an unexpected top 5 player falls
** 3 mocks had this kid around 13-10 ( one had the 49ers drafting him at 11)

This draft is looking more difficult to call every day. I would not normally go with a LB that early unless he is also an edge rushing possibility, like Parsons. But I don't see a DT I am in love with or a DE to take at 12 either. The WRs don't excite me and I just don't think taking a RB that early would be the smart move for Dallas.

Exactly my point.......unless Graham or even Tmac falls, this kid can have the most impact from day one IMO.

Wouldn't rule it out. He is fit at a position our DC highly values. Campbell is also a guy I could see NFL scouting departments value more than media scouts. I can see him going higher in mocks when media scouts start using info from pro's

I will say one qualm I would with any reasoning speculating we take a LB day 1 because of Eberflus would be that his teams tend to take them day 2. I dont think one of his teams ever took one day 1. However that doesnt mean we wont either. Just something to think about

I think who/if they sign via free agency ( LBer that is ) will tell us a lot. Eberflus may not wanna risk the choices left at 44.

Yea....I think it could come down to how much he likes the other top and whether or not they will be there at 44. We both agree he's likely targeting one with the first 3 picks at least.

I'm a linebacker by association...but if they go strength of offensive line such as Banks, it doesn't matter who the Eagles add to defensive end.

Hate it!! Questionable instincts scares me to death. I don't care how athletic an off the ball linebacker is, high level instincts is the #1 thing I look at the position, where many say he is a tick slow.

Now, I would select the black licorice.

The LB is similar to the RB room...empty!!!
Jihad would be a the green dot, and I do think his temperament would be good for the defense. Dallas would still need to add a couple more LBs. Campbell is certainly an option to consider at 12 to fill a important spot.

On the sneak, Schwesinger, Stutsman, Prince Jr. and a few others make up decent LB class, so there's no rush to jump on a LB in the 1st, but it all depends on Eberflus. FA is crucial.

Cowboys aren't going LB at 12. They just aren't.
You are probably right but lots of signs point to that direction
** Eberflus
** Open starting position
** Former 1st rounder LVE
** Can be the team leader and face of defense next 6-8 years
** The new franchise tag for Lbers is $25M, now the most expensive position after QB.
** Could trade down a few spots ( pick up extra 3rd ) and still get one

Campbell seems a tick slow when he's processing, and that scares the heck out of me. Most early-round LBs don't fail because they can't run fast enough, they fail because they either freeze up or run the wrong way.

#12 seems way rich for a guy with that red flag on his scouting report. First round, sure, especially in this poor class. But not top 15.

For comparison, Jack Campbell put up a 9.98 RAS two years ago, and showed excellent instincts on tape. He had huge counting stats production as well. That was good enough for him to go #18 overall. I would say that he was easily a tier better than Jihaad Campbell as a prospect.

If there's a silver lining, it's that Eberflus seems to get good mileage out of really athletic LBs. He coached up LVE and Jaylon here, he got some great seasons out of Shaq Leonard in Indianapolis, and Tremaine Edmunds was OK in Chicago. If we did take Campbell at #12, I'd at least feel confident that Eberflus could get the most out of him.
